Hamsterley Forest 10K & Half Marathon - October routes

The course of this beautiful undulating to hilly on well-maintained loose gravel paths passes through the middle of scenic Hamsterley Forest Drive. Runners will get to enjoy the serenity and beauty of the forest in the fall, and even have the opportunity for some wildlife watching.

Course Laps:

10K - 1 lap

Half Marathon - 2 Laps + partial lap

Please run on the left hand side of the road in order to allow faster runners to pass on your right.

Your results will be recorded by a timing mat ever lap, showing your split times.

The course has a TRA Race Permit, with a Course Accuracy Certificate

Refreshment Stations: Every 3.1 miles, there will be a food and drink station. These will be stocked with water and electrolyte drinks in paper cups, various sweet, chocolates and cakes. At registration, you will have the option to leave personal nutrition at the food stop.

Toilets: Portable toilets will be available at registration and on the course

Raceday Logistics

Schedule:

  • 10:00am: Half Marathon
  • 10:30am: 10k

N.B. There will be a cut-off 4 hours after the race has begun (2pm)

Please be aware phone signal is very poor in and around Hamsterley Forest.

Registration takes place at the Start/Finish Area, which is near Grove Car Park, in the Southern area of Hamsterley Forest (DL13 3QN)

Registration will be from 08:00 to 10:15. On the day entry is available at £2 extra fee.

Kit List

The course is on a good path, however it is still recommended to take caution and wear shoes that are fully suitable for the terrain. It is requested that runners do NOT wear headphones, for safety reasons.

Spectators

The area has plenty of opportunities for spectating, although you may get distracted by the stunning views and potential for wildlife watching. You might want to go for a peaceful wander while the race is happening.

Volunteers

Time2Run welcomes anyone who wishes to help out with their events and become a race marshal.

If you are a keen runner yourself then you will know the importance of great course marshals and the role provides an avenue to get involved with a race day's atmosphere even if you're not competing.
