I ran this event shortly after the Great South Run in 2018. It was a very different experience. A very flat course, with a significantly smaller number of participants - about 17,000 fewer. The parking arrangements on the day were at the seafront amusement park - very convenient. A half mile walk to the start helped with the warm up. Changing was in the local hall and then a 2 minute walk to the start line. This was from a residential street and we stayed on the local roads for the first couple of miles. Groups of local residents turned out to shout encouragement. The next few miles are along the (now lifted) railway track alongside the Solent. Very pacy with a great view over to Portsmouth. Next up is the run back along the seafront road/ tracks. This is practically 4 miles of the 10 total. Wind from behind one way, turn at the Chippy and then run back on the other side of the road (or wide pavement) and through residential streets to the finish back in the park. Don't forget to collect your medal and socks as a memento (the socks were handed out in the hall, not at the finish line - I forgot to collect them and had to go back). Overall, a really good event that I'm looking forward to doing again in November. Thanks to the organisers!
