Races summary
Here's what races are available for Heyford Airbase Duathlon & Runway Races
Standard Duathlon
Half Marathon
Route information
Duathlon Standard
10k run, 40k cycle, 5k run
The route will take place within the RAF Upper Heyford airbase. This was a prominent airbase during the Second World War and the Cold War and racers will be able to immerse themselves in the history of the venue.
Given the nature of the venue, this race is entirely flat and racers will have the chance to set a quick time in this great setting. It is a brilliant event for athletes of all ability. Experienced athletes can enjoy the flat terrain and set a fast time, or anyone new to the sport can take on their first mutli-sport event.
The Half Marathon and 10k routes follow a similar course along the disused runways within the airbase. Both courses are lapped and distances will be clearly marked throughout. The 5k route will once again take participants throughout the historic airbase, with only a few minor changes to the course.
All routes will be flat and within the closed Airbase meaning all abilities of runners are welcome to join this fun and friendly event. And with a Family Mile also available, this event really is a day for the whole family.

Did the race in 2022
Event cancelled without any notification. Only found out when I arrived to the airbase.Checked website in the morning but no information about the cancellation.Very disappointing customer relationship. After his, I hope the reason is trua and indeed the company went under.Would have been easy to at least make a FB post or advertise it on the website..Would have saved lots of travel and related costs. Will avoid this organiser in the future!!!

Fairly well organised event however the course was completely soul destroying!!! Considering the amount of space available on the air base i don’t understand why we had to run and cycle in such a small area and just up and down. The runway that was used for part of the cycle was like riding on cobbles and far from suitable for road/race bikes (i think my mountain bike would have been better). Also being present for the 5k/10k/1/2 marathon day and seeing how much of the air base was used for their run routes why couldn’t they be used for the duathlon??? Unless the course is changed dramatically i willnot be returning next year. Also over priced for for the lack of course.

Transition was on a really stoney part of the track. There were plenty of smooth parts. If the transition area is that stoney a mat should be laid.

Not gunna lie, this one did not get on with me. I don't think it was anything particularly to do this the organisation as I've been to their events before and loved. Just not my day I think!

It was good but was a bit of an odd course to run along side bit like that. Kind of nice to do something very different though

Found the whol thing quite tough, was just a bit too long for me and I wan't trained well enough - my fault

Thought this was all great fun, spent a long time during the year working up to this one, was tough but worth the wait!

Hi Laura! Are you wondering on how big the event will be? I think it says in the overview the capacity is 200! Hope that helps :-)
