Good half marathon. Well organised and an efficient race HQ. Enough facilities given the size of the race. Route is on open roads which is clearly stated in the race pack, however there were plenty of marshals at the road crossings and those crossings are on quieter roads anyway. That said, it's impossible to manage the whole route so be prepared to sidestep pedestrians and driveways. The route is mostly flat but one or two small undulations make it a bit more challenging. A nice friendly race and at a good price - I personally prefer these events to the larger more expensive ones. … read more

Great facilities, good organisation before and after the race. Couple of the marshalls were not paying attention and we ran the wrong way. The majority were brilliant though. Very narrow in places and trying to overtake the people on their first lap when you are on your second is tricky. Generally a good race though… read more

Liked the pre-race atmosphere and the finish at Brunel. Good facilities and parking. Enjoyed the race even with it being 2 laps

The Hillingdon half is a runner's course. That's not to do a disservice, but it's not about spectacle, crowds or goody bags. What it is, is a warm and inviting event that covers two laps of a relatively flat course. The 10km race starts slightly later, which causes a little nuisance in the second half of the race as you lap slower half-marathon runners and some 10km runners. The route isn't all that wide, so some parts mean you end up in the road just trying to pass the sheer numbers of people.Overall it's a good solid half marathon which is well marshaled and marked, and occupies a perfect spot in the calendar for the spring marathon season.

It wouldve been great but unfortunate that the rogue runners distracted the lead bike making it short , and there were a couple of dangerous parts when we overtook the slower 10 k and HM runners where there were roadworks and were forced into busy road/ forced to stop completely which was very frustrating !

Nice place to stay warm pre race, flat course. Plenty of toilets. Did get a little caught up on the second with the 10k race covering the same course but most people were great and gave way to faster runners coming through.

This race has good PB potential. However, it requires lots of marshals, and some have to be quite skilful. I'm sure the organisers were struggling this year. We also had the problem in the first mile which caused us to run a short course, meaning that any PBs were worthless. As one of the front runners in the Half, I found overtaking the bulk of the 10k race was very hazardous. The 10k-ers were using up the whole of the pavement, meaning that if I wanted to get the best out of my run, I had to use the road. To say the least, this was a distraction.

Great to be in the warm right up to the start time and straight after the run.

Was ok. Wish I'd known it would be 50-100m short. I was told to get there early but didn't really need to be there early. So a lot of waiting around.

I'm pretty certain the course was short by a good 300m, which in the scheme of things doesn't sound that much, but it is annoying if you're in PB form. Which I wasn't, but that's kind of how I knew it wasn't just a Garminism. There's no way I was running at sub 1:50 pace but I ended up with 1:48 and something. If you care about things Strava and you end up stopping your watch on the finish line and it's less than 21.1km (about 20.8 in my case), then it's not going to give you a PB. And I personally would feel fake saying I got a PB on a short course. Anyway, maybe worth going over the data from other runners and maybe measuring the course for next year. Other than that, excellently organised, good medal and tee shirt (Watford could take a lesson here!).

The event was fairly well organised, and I knew exactly what to expect. While it was made clear that it was not a closed road event, perhaps closing the roads in the future may be a good idea, because it would allow me to worry less about safely crossing the road; it would make my pathing quite a lot easier!

Good race and area to keep warm before the race starts. Mainly on pavements and roads are not closed but not an issue as marshals made sure traffic was stopped. Would recommend and will race it again

It was my first 1/2 marathon but good to be doing it on familiar roads. Will be back next year for one of the 2x events.
