Its cold, its winter and its for 6 hours. The course is flat, facilities are good. If you havent run for this long before its a really good starter. If you have run this long before and want a good distance then its great. All sorts of abilities there, really relaxed, cake stop!

Good event, ideal if you want to do a quick marathon, the course is completely flat. The cakes afterwards were amazing. You should prepare yourself for the laps element of the event, it's not particularly scenic, after one lap of the lake, you'll have seen all there is to see.

Even though it was loops, they seemed to pass by quite quickly as the friendly atmosphere and other competitors helped pass the time. Course was generally flat and fast. Only downside with the course was the 12 steps at the end of each lap which got more slippy with each lap. Organisation was good - love the home-made cakes at the end and excellent good bag of beer and chocolate which is what you need at the end of a marathon. Will definitely do more IGUM events.

My first event of this kind and enjoyed it thoroughly. Very friendly and supportive marshalls and a good flat course.

Great event with easy loops on a fast course. Impeccably organised by the IGUN team as always and good camaraderie out on the loops with the other competitors. I only planned to run the marathon but rounded up to 30 miles as it seemed a shame to stop. My first time at this event but I'll definitely return. A good day out!

My first Its Grim Up North Runnig event. Great atmosphere, particularly the friendly vibe of the run and the welcoming attitude shown by everyone. Well organised. Great cake (and loads of it).

This was my first event of this kind and my first marathon, I liked the set up and it was very well run and had a lovely atmosphere had it been a nice day (weather wise ) it would off been fabulous but it is grim up north I guess , brilliant event would do it again

2nd year of running it. Did 1 lap more than last year. Diane and Cath are brilliant. Lovely cakes afterwards. I even helped after I finished. Loved seeing the geese and watching the rowers.
