The course will now more gradually climb out of Portree for the first 1.5 miles before a steep climb at Druimuie leading to a now fast downhill 2 miles to the Kensalyre turn. The race then follows a single track through spectacular Isle of Skye countryside including the Snizort river.

The last few miles are downhill ensuring a fast finish in to the town of Portree.

The finish line is at Portree High School where the moment you cross the mat your time will be instantaneously recorded to computer.

I was happy with course and organisation but disappointed to see so much plastic used. Many races are moving to plastic free and to see thousands of plastic bottles was a real shame. Something to look at next year?

Perhaps, a route from Uig to Portree would be more interesting. Although the current route is nice, it’s very hilly to enjoy it. Other than that, the atmosphere was fantastic. Also, the medal needs better design.

The main thing to know is the elevation profile. You get a lovely 5k up hill, then a lovely 4k flat-gently down hill, then you get another 6k that is twisty and net climbing, with some absolutely TOP views! From there you think “must be down hill to the finish in Portree now” - but no, for every 20m of descent there’s 5-10m of ascent. My tired legs gave up a bit!
Having said that, we’ll be back next year! The views on Skye are like nowhere else, the organisation was excellent, and the kids high 5ing you home were ace!
Really great event, definitely worth the aching quads!

11miles of hills peaked at awesome views at mile 12 onto a downhill finish. Plenty of water stops and some helpful residents had a hose spraying across the road at one point which was bliss on a hot day
