We also do ask that if you drive and are intending to park nearby, please avoid parking on the grass verges or illegally across private property or driveways for the benefit of our neighbours.
Event day logistics
We operate a slightly staggered start to try and alleviate the problem of congestion getting onto the canal towpath, so please line up at the start according to your estimated pace and do take your own timings as this is a training run and not an officially timed race.
The main race begins at 9 30.
Please arrive in good time to register and get ready to run. You may leave bags in the Clubhouse, it will be supervised but anything left is at your own risk. These runs are always popular and it gets busy in the clubhouse in the 30 minutes leading up to the start! We typically have between 400-500 runners taking part.
Whilst we don’t like to set an official “cut-off” time for these runs (they are not official races and are very much catering for first time marathon runners), for the benefit of our marshals out on the course and also due to the time we need to vacate the clubhouse, we do ask that if you expect to be over 15mins per mile pace that you join one of our earlier starting groups.
One of our coaches will run with a 12min+ group at 9am for the first 4 miles of the course and we are always happy to set you off even earlier if required. Just email us prior to the day if you would like to run our event but are worried about your finish time.
All registration is on the day. There is no pre-registration.
