Route information
Whether you do the full marathon, or the 10k, an Impact Marathon race is trail running at its best. These breath-taking routes, accompanied with the intimacy of the Impact family, are what make this experience so magical. Trek through Jordan's gorgeous deserts to discover your inner grit and determination. This is not just a race, but a life-expanding, soul-enriching experience you'll carry with you forever. Treasure each step.
10k - Starter Route
There is a reason some of your favourite movies have been filmed in this desert: Star Wars; The Martian; Aladdin to name just three. This is an other worldly outrageous experience that will change your entire running life. Sand, heat, and a vast expanse of nothing - this is no leisurely 10k and will prove a tough test for all runners. But the spirit of Impact is welcoming to all! Time doesn't matter, we are here to run together, with others, for others. Athletes will begin just as the heat starts to rise and as the 42k & 21k runners' approach.
The course will coincide with the other runners as the routes join up, before making its way to the stunning finale.
21k - Half marathon
Enjoy the sheer beauty of Wadi Rum with this challenging course. It's our flattest Impact Marathon, but, aside from that, don't expect an easy ride out there. What you should expect is a series of vistas that reach out before you in a way that does not feel like earth. Your route will wind between the iconic mountains that rise from the sand below. You're going to be blown away.
The race begins as the 42k runners' approach and will be run together with them. Although the course is not as hilly as Impact Marathons often are, it will be incredibly hot and sandy and provide a formidable challenge.
42k - The Beast of Wadi Rum
Starting off before the sun rises, this race will require head-torches. Beginning in this light offers a truly unique experience as entrants will see the sun rise over the immense desert mountains.
This race will push you right to your limits, but remember, afterwards you can say that you've conquered The Beast of Wadi Rum.

Event day logistics
Schedule:
Day 1 - Welcome
You'll meet in Amman for the first night and be transferred to the hotel while getting to know fellow travellers, eating local food, and learning more about the week ahead.
Day 2 - Greening the Camps
On Day 2 you will head north to visit the first project, which will be the main project you support. You'll spend time in the community with leading experts and understanding the project of living sustainably. You'll cap off the day by staying in the community overnight, for a fully immersive experience.
Day 3 - Greening the Camps
You'll spend your third day in the community again, this time working on and building home gardens to be used in a ground-breaking new project. This is a huge undertaking - combining the vital importance of land management, holistic permaculture (don't worry, you'll learn all about this immensely powerful concept) with the refugee regions of Jordan. With the nation the 2nd most water scarce country on earth, and with an open-door policy to refugees, there is a challenge that must be overcome. And that is exactly what we will be doing. This will be the last night in the community before heading South for race day.
Day 4 - Petra
Spend your day visiting one of the 7 New Wonders of the World, and enjoy a truly remarkable experience. We could chat all about this as this day stands as a bucket list moment for any traveller. However, for us, at an Impact Marathon, it is one more ridiculously memorable and powerful experience in a week of such days.
Day 5 - Day Off
Wake up in Wadi Rum. That's right, the middle of the desert under the cover of a Bedouin tent. There is this an entire day of exploration ahead of you. But we are leaving you to decide what to do - from jeep tours across the desert to the big sights, to mountain climbing, this is a day for you to pick how to prepare for the race tomorrow, and how to make the most of your time here in Jordan. There are extra costs involved here.
Day 6 - Race Day
The moment has finally arrived. Race day. You'll head to the start-line together and run as a community behind a breathtaking desert backdrop. Cross the finish line to a massive well-done and party into the night.
Day 7 - Homecoming
With the aches and pains to remind you of a job well done, you can travel back home via the airport transfers included in the price.
Fundraising Information
Impact Runners aims to set and smash their own fundraising targets. Turning the fundraising model on its head, Impact won’t tell you what to raise, you tell them! Impact Marathon has have a team goal of £30,000, how much can you contribute to make this possible. As a bonus, for every £1000 you raise, you’ll get £150 off your next Impact Marathon.
The fundraising is what brings the Impact Week alive and leaves a powerful legacy in the communities we seek to serve. The Impact Marathon Foundation has the goal of catalysing change and supporting tangible, grassroots organisations with our funds, affirmation, and a platform to tell their story.
In Jordan you, your fellow runners and the Impact team will be tackling the biggest two issues facing Jordan – water scarcity, and their open-door policy for refugees escaping troubles in neighbouring countries. Greening The Camps tackles these challenges whilst also tackling climate change, food sovereignty, gender equality…the more you learn, the more powerful this work becomes.
