Day 1, 45.3k: Charmouth - Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (HQ)
Day 2, 42k: Portland Ferry Road - Lulworth Cove
Day 3, 43.6k: Lulworth Cove - Shell Bay
The Jurassic Coast is infamous for its stunning views and tough climbs. Each day participants will be taken over a variety of terrains, ensuring each day is different from the rest. The route follows the Dorset section of the South West Coastal Path. The path is marked on signs by an Acorn symbol and is a track for the majority of the way. Some sections will pass through built up areas but is still marked.
Checkpoints
There are checkpoints approximately every 10k along the route, fully stocked with a variety of food and drinks.
You can choose to take on the whole 3 day challenge or just enter one or two days separately.

The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy lies off of the A354 between Weymouth and Castletown. It is a 17-minute drive from Weymouth and a 29-minute drive from Dorchester.
Parking
There will be free parking at the Event HQ.
By Public Transport
The closest train station is Weymouth Station, which has regular services to London Waterloo, Bristol Temple Meads and Woking.
From Weymouth, take the 1 Portland Link bus towards the National Sailing Academy, which drops you right outside the Academy.

Start Groups
Participants will be set off in start groups each day based on their expected pace. There will be 2 groups each day.
Group 1 is predominately for walkers and slower runners. Group 1 starts first each day. (Day 1 is likely only to have one group due to the distance to the start.)
Group 2 is for runners. No walkers in group 2.
Your start group will be decided by the organisers who will publish this information in the Information Pack before the event.
Registration
Each day participants must register attendance at the challenge registration. You will need to report your name and mobile number to receive your challenge number and GPS tracker - both of which will need to be returned after each day of the challenge.
Transport to Challenge Start
From registration, participants will be transported to the challenge start point in mini busses. Return transport from the finish line to event HQ at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy.
Bag Drop
Participants can leave a bag with warm clothes at the start and it will be transported to the finish. The bag must be marked with your name and mobile number on the outside.
Catering
There is also on-site catering for £17 a day (£6 - Breakfast, £11 - 2 course evening meal - prices as of 2022). This will run from Thursday evening to Sunday evening.
Kit
Essential kit: (to be carried on your person or in your rucksack)
- A means of navigation
- Useful numbers, checkpoint timings and lost procedure
- Whistle
- Compass (make sure your compass is attached to you or your kit)
- Waterproof top
- Long trousers or tights
- Gloves (waterproofed in a plastic freezer bag)
- Hat (waterproofed in a plastic freezer bag)
- Chocolate bar or similar
- Small torch with spare batteries
- More than 400ml of water or other drink
- A lightweight piece of warm clothing (waterproofed)
- A fully charged working mobile phone (waterproofed)
- A notepad and pencil with your name and your mobile number written on it (waterproofed)
You must carry all the kit on the kit list. No exceptions.
FAQs
Can I enter the Jurassic Coast Challenge as part of a team?
Yes absolutely, to enter as a team please email - events@votwo.co.uk -. There will be an additional charge to account for extra admin, medals & t-shirts. Teams may use the start and finish transportation but if you wish to meet at a checkpoint and swap over you will be responsible for getting yourself to and from the checkpoints. Teams must also at registration make sure that the HQ has everyone's mobile number and emergency details.
Is accommodation included in the price of the ticket for the Jurassic Coast Challenge?
No, accommodation must be booked separately. There are a number of options available around the event site.
How will I get my information pack for the Jurassic Coast Challenge?
The information pack will be available on the organisers website before race day.
