Kent Classic Sportive routes

Setting off from the village of Lingfield you will be out in the country before you know it, as all three routes head south to Wych Cross taking in the first of many quaint little villages you’ll cycle through during the ride. It is around this point, at the 7-mile mark, that you’ll tackle the first real steady climb of the day.

At Colemans Hatch, the Short route riders can relax knowing that they’ve completed the hardest part of their ride with only two steady climbs left to tackle. It’s at this point they will split off from the other routes as they head North towards Edenbridge.

Epic and Standard riders, however, go straight into the steepest climb of the day as they pass through Newbridge and make their way toward Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Shortly past Groombridge, the course divides again as the Standard riders head north with Royal Tunbridge Wells to their East. They won’t see the Epic riders again until they reach Sevenoaks, having taken in Langton Green, Penshurst and Chiddingstone, to name but a few of the villages along the route.

Epic riders continue East as they ride into the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are a few short climbs along this section of the course that might take you by surprise. Notable elevation changes occur around Goudhurst, another just past Yalding and a third at Roughway. These should serve as nice testers to get you warmed up for the final climb at Dunks Green, that ascends steadily for several miles before peaking at Sevenoaks Common. It is here that you’ll embark on a nice descent before re-joining the Standard riders once again. From here, it’s a 14-mile ride back to Lingfield, via the village of Edenbridge, with no major challenges looming.

No, thought it was well managed event.

Completed a few Wiggle events this year and this was by far the toughest. Coming from the flat Fenlands of Norfolk the hills were challenging for me to say the least, but still enjoyed this well organised event..I'm glad I chose the Standard route this year but would like to attempt the Epic next year..
  • Did the Standard in 2018

This was my first sportive, so not got anything to compare it with! Was very glad that I had a gps nav device with the course on it, as when i missed a turning (I was getting carried away on a downhill) it pointed it out to me really quickly!Course knowledge, it would be nice is there were some 5k to go or such signs (not too many!) but a couple would have been helpful. Not sure what happened to my box of gels though!
  • Did the Standard in 2018

Excellent, this was my third Wiggle / UK Cycling Events event this year. A couple of signage placements need to be reviewed - the junction came up a lot faster than expected. Wet roads and leaves caused a few challenges in places.
  • Did the Standard in 2018

Great, enjoyed cycling on some new roads in West Sussex and Kent.
