King’s Cup Gravel Festival and British Gravel Championships
Full route details will be published closer to the event date.
Gravel Race & Gran Fondo
Both routes start the off taking the same route, with riders enjoying fast, hard-packed pebble gravel and some loose chippings for the first 4k. The next 1k will see riders taken through the woodland where the track enjoys the benefit of vehicle tracks with a grassy surface between.
After 5k, the route deviates from the TT route. For 4k riders are taken through the woodlands over a mix of pea gravel, grass, and hard-packed sand. The route rejoins the TT route for a fast and furious stint on hard-packed chippings again.
The route turns left onto wide, grass tracks a bit, taking riders to the 15k mark, after which riders get back onto the TT route. The final stretch of the Icknield Way has a predominance of loose sand on its uneven surface. There is a change of surface from sand to grass as riders re-enter the arena.
Depending on the event category and age group riders will complete this lap 2-3 times.
  • Gravel Race - Women = 2 laps
  • Gravel Race - Men U60 = 3 laps, 60+ = 2 laps
  • Gravel Fondo - Short Course = 2 laps, Long Course = 3 laps
*Detailed route maps will be available closer to the event date.
