Route information
This course will be undulating throughout, with along awe-inspiring river towpaths. You will follow the Liverpool Leeds canal, crossing over the River Aire, experiencing the surrounding scenery countryside at its finest.
There may be some muddy puddles near the river so make sure to be prepared for some mucky trails. Also, keep an eye out for some wild deer that may be in the fields whilst you run. There is also some parts of the route along the road too.
As you race up through the Caverley Cutting make sure to embrace the great scenery of the rock formations that surround you, they will definitely keep your mind off of the short incline you'll be climbing as you race.

A good race, making use of the trails around area with some good hills, fields and urban sections. Great to run with friends as the atmosphere was fun especially the after race pint with the other runners. Would be happy to do again

I felt there needed to be a few more course markers and another marshall or two. I got lost and I know a few others did too. The pint at the end was very welcome.

As a newer and slow runner I was very grateful that I was able to take part and no cut off time for completing the course was given. I made to feel welcome and as of much value as the faster runners. All the marshalls were encouraging and stayed to wait for me to get around the course some 30+mins after the rest had passed. I thought the course was tough but a great route and a huge challenge for me. Very scenic and of mixed terrain. Its great to be able to enter these races and improve yourself by pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and doing things you would not normally get chance to do due to time restrictions. Thank you

Really good course and well organised. Some of the views were stunning!I've never encountered a hill like it at mile 6, that was a killer!!! The pint at the end was much needed!Well do Great Owl running for a top race.

Great low-key, friendly race on a nice route that takes in canal, river and a tough climb. Marshalls were attentive and encouraging. The pint at the end is a nice touch.

As this was the first event on this course it needed more mashals. the course needed to be marked out better, I saw some running heading of in the wrong direction as there was no marshal at key points. Other than this I did enjoy the route.

A lovely little race along a well marshalled and marked course taking in canal- and riverside paths, some minor roads and country fields. And that monster hill! The free beer at the pub was the icing on the cake. I will definitely be signing up for next year.

As inaugural events go, this easily competes with other well established events. Entry was easy, pre-race communication was spot on (even with a minor course change beforehand), race day was well organised, the course itself was a good run, not too challenging but still enjoyable. Would definitely run it again.

Really enjoyable route, well marshalled . I was concerned before hand with the amount of panicky mails that organised sent and excessive mandatory gear, needless to say it was all great on the day, coat wasnt needed, wasnt sat on by a cow, no veils disease contracted and I didnt get lost! Cheap, low key, challenging course . Deffo want to do it next year!
