Step back in time at the wonderfully preserved National Trust Village of Lacock. With its central grid of four streets, Lacock today looks much like it did 200 years ago. Its oldest house is older than the thirteenth century abbey but since the loss of the village's main source of income from wool in the nineteenth century, new development has been minimal.

Lacock Road Races routes

The race starts on the village green opposite the Abbey. The route heads out of town and over some lovely stone bridges over the river Avon. There is a slight rise before the first turn coming in at 10km. Beautiful country roads wind road to the hamlet of Reybridge with lovely thatched roofed buildings lining the narrow streets.

Once through Reybridge the run will come back round ito Lacock itself and run along the historic side streets as well as up and back along the main high street. This a 1 lap course for the 5km, 2 laps for the 10km and 3 larger laps for the Half Marathon will have a larger looped section at Reybridge to ensure an accurate distance.

The 1km family fun run will be a lap course through Lacock Village. The minimum age to run unaccompanied is 8 years old. Children younger are welcome to run if they are accompanied by an adult who is over the age of 18. There is no charge for adults accompanying children, unless they wish to collect a medal, in which case we ask they register as usual.

A lovely family oriented atmosphere. There were a large number of different distance races ran over the same course, but the organising team pulled off a logistical miracle
  • Did the 10k in 2019

This is a brilliant run with beautiful views the whole route. It is a two lap route which includes two hills. As always well organised and great treats on finishing. My only negative today was the water stations placed at 3.5k and 5k - too close together, I would have preferred the second one at the bottom or top of the first hill especially on such a warm day as today. Not sure how those running the half marathon managed with just these stations for their three laps. Besides the water station blip I shall be entering this lovely closed road run again next year!

Beautiful course, Lacock is lovely, and i was impressed at the turnout. I probably should have seen before I got there but slightly frustrating that the 10k course was two laps of the 5k, especially when they were running a half marathon that day as well! A very friendly race through the countryside, with a couple of sneaky hills in it, but such a nice area we will probably be back.
