Event summary

A long distance hill race, between the police stations of Braemar and Aviemore, with 43k of spectacular scenery, run over an historic drove road rising to 2733 ft. between some of the highest peaks in Britain.

Your organiser

Deeside Runners is an Aboyne-based club of runners covering road, hill and cross-country running. The club runs both training and social events for members and organises several prestigious local running events. We look forward to seeing new runners of all ages and standards at club events and can promise you a warm welcome.

Route description
Route description

The race route is a mix of road, forest trails and rocky single track. The Luibeg burn can be challenging when in spate but there is a bridge crossing further upstream. Runners negotiate a boulder field at the Pools of Dee and good navigational skills may be required in adverse weather.

Logistics and schedule

The following kit is required by each runner.

  • Full waterproof body cover
  • Hat (buff acceptable) and gloves
  • Whistle
  • Map and compass
  • Food and liquid
