The route starts in Gisburn Forest with a 7k stretch of smooth gravel around woodland trails. From here, riders will head up a beautiful climb with stunning views across the moors. Bowland Knotts is 2.3k at 6.6% on roads where it’s very rare to see a car. Next, it's onto a 15k section of flat gravel along the edge of the Yorkshire Dales including a sharp 3.5k off-road climb.
Once atop Salter Fell it's a quick descent down to Slaidburn for a quick road section into the forest trails and to the finish line.
Medium Route
Distance: 70km
Elevation: 1500m
Percentage of Route Off Road: 50%
After 18k with the long route, its time to split off at the descent into Bowland Knotts. From here, riders head west to Salter Fell and follow the route back to Gisburn Forest.
Although a challenging route, this route boasts a good split of gravel and back roads.

Mechanical issues
There will be mechanics at all aid stations and ride captains to also help with any bike issues.
Bike hire
The organiser will have carbon gravel bikes available for hire from the race village.
Race Village
At the race village, there will be toilets coffee, cake, and lots of food trucks to try.
Feed stations
Feed stations will have water, coke, cake, fruit and sports nutrition bars and nut butter. They will be approximately every 30 kilometres.

What happens if I have a mechanical problem with my bike at the Lancashire Gravel Epic?
There will be mechanics at all feed stops to help you and ride captains along the route to offer support, make sure to bring a basic repair kit for small incidences.
How do I find out my start time for the Lancashire Gravel Epic?
Riders will start in groups of 6 at a time. You will be emailed after you have booked to choose your start time between 8:00am and 10am. If you are riding with a friend you can choose to start with them.
What is the best bike for the Lancashire Gravel Epic?
The route is mostly off-road, gravel bikes with 40mm tyres will be perfect, mountain bikes will also be good but will not be optimal for performance.
