Leicestershire Round Series Leg 3 route

From Cossington Village Hall you will pass through a number of small villages and towns to include Woodhouse Eaves, Newtown Linford, Markfield, Thornton, Bagworth, Nailstone, Shackerstone, Carlton, Market Bosworth, Sutton Cheney, Barwell, Burbage Common. Runners will finish with a home cooked meal at the Holywell Inn Pub in Hinckley.

The Leicestershire round route is way marked. The 56km course will also have Sole2Soul markers. Runners will be treated with stunning Leicestershire scenery as they complete the route, and are encouraged to take the time to absorb, photograph, and appreciate your surroundings.

Please be aware that you will also be running over different terrain and some spots on the route could be quite uneven on the foot and quite boggy at times. This route is recommended for experienced ultra runners.

Distance: 56km (34 Miles)

Climb: 734 metres (2400ft)

Checkpoints:

As you go through the route there will be check points which will provide you with light refreshments. There will be 4 check points on the route, each checkpoint will be equipped with Water, Coke, flapjacks, fruit, homemade cakes/biscuits and a selection of sweet and savoury items.

Checkpoint 1: Mile 8 - Benscliffe Road, Newtown Linford, Loughborough LE6 0AL

Checkpoint 2: Mile 15 - Thornton primary school Main St, Thornton, Coalville LE67 1AH

Checkpoint 3: Mile 21.5 - Shackerstone Station, Shackerstone, Leicestershire. CV13 6NW

Checkpoint 4: Mile 27 - TBC

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the race start to ensure there is plenty of time to complete the registration process.

Age Limit:

Participants must be at least 20 years old to participate

Kit List

It is essential that every runner takes all of the below items with them on the ultra-marathons race.

Unfortunately, if you do not bring the complete kit with you then this will result in disqualification and not being able to take part in the race.

  • 500ml of water
  • Nutrition (energy bars)
  • Waterproof jacket with taped seams
  • Emergency blanket (can get small foil ones)
  • Hat or buff
  • Head torch
  • Whistle
  • Gloves
  • Mobile phone
  • Mapped route
  • Emergency mobile number of the race organiser/director which is 07856292688(must be stored in your mobile phone)

This kit is essential and standard for all of the Sole2Soul Running ultramarathon running events.

If there is a significant change in weather then the list could change so make sure you check this too. Any update will be made via email and social media prior to the event.

What will I receive if I complete all 3 legs of the Leicestershire Round Series?
If the whole 100 mile route is completed over the 3 races then you will also receive the Leicester round badge free of charge.

Welcome to Sole2Soul Running Ultramarathon Events! Curious about ultramarathons trail running? It's a lot more fun off the beaten track. Welcome to Sole2Soul Running, Leicestershire's dedicated ultramarathon trail running event company. We are a professional team with experienced led runners and full support staff ensuring you are happy and well looked after. Sole2Soul ultramarathons start in Leicestershire's beautiful countryside, are all a minimum of 54km and are ran over a variety of challenging courses and terrain. Our main race is the Leicestershire Round course which run's through stunning scenery and famous landmarks. The Leicestershire round is a series of three ultramarathons which completes the full 100 mile route. At the end of each race when finished you will be rewarded with a Sole2Soul running medal, tech t-shirt and not forgetting a home cooked meal. As you go through the route there will be check points which will provide you with light refreshments.

    A really Great course with stunning scenic views across Leicestershire contryside, The race is tough with a fair amount of muddy pathways. Navigating with the signage was reasonable but easy to miss so a gopd GPS with routes on them needed. Will be doing the 2 other parts to this course to make the full round
