Route information
Runners will have the option of running a Marathon or taking on the 6 Hour Challenge. You will take on laps of a 10.7k course, which although is multi-terrain it mostly takes place on flat tarmac.
The course starts on the upper promenade at Holland on Sea and takes you along the seafront towards Frinton on Sea. Runners will head through the beautiful Holland Country Park along the gravel tracks, before heading back along the Sea wall to Holland on Sea. The Lower Promenade will give beautiful views of the sea and the sandy beach before you head back up to the Upper Promenade to complete the lap.
There will be an aid station at the start/finish point, so runners can refuel as often as they wish and there is no need to carry any kit. This gives runners a brilliant opportunity to take on a distance they haven't completed before. 2 laps will complete a half marathon, 4 laps a marathon and any more than that and the clock is your only limit!
But don't be put off by the long time limit, runners can rest as much as they wish between laps and refuel as often as they need. The fuel stations will be equipped with flapjacks, sweet things, fruit, and nuts, and also water and squash. But you can also leave your own items there if you have more individual requirements.
