Really enjoyed it. Lovely course, coffee and food could have been nearer the finish rather than the car park.

Really enjoyed this event! The course was lovely and scenic - the staff and marshals were fantastic and very friendly.Pre-race organisation was excellent too - the only bad thing was that the postcode took me to a layby - fortunately I was able use google maps to get to the carpark within 10 mins :)I will be back and highly recommend, thank you

The atmosphere was good and marshals and other volunteers were very helpful and supportive. I have two major concerns; in an email I was advised to wear trail running shoes as the course was on paths in the park that were muddy; in fact a good deal of it was on tarmac. If I had known this I would certainly not have worn my trail runners as it was not comfortable running those portions. More of an issue is with the course; there was a section which went up a path and then u-turned back down it. There was not room to separate the runners going up from those coming down. Those coming down (we all did this section two or three times, depending on distance covered) had to run on the side of the path in long wet grass, with no sight of any possible obstacles such as holes in the ground, which could have led to injuries. It was not pleasant to have to more or less run into all the people running up , and I am sure will have delayed those who were hoping for a PB (not that this was a great event for that due to the ground conditions). I have been to many races and never experienced anything like this. At the Derby 10k a few years ago, we ran down one road and then back up, but it was not an issue as the runners coming back were on the other side of the road, clearly marked and cordoned off. If the run is in a park like this, the course needs to be more of an open circle or other shape, with any doubling back well distanced from other runners. I would appreciate a reply to this message as I was not happy with my experience. You can email me at hburton@talktalk.net - many thanks.

'Fantastic event village' consisted of a van selling coffee out the boot, 'massage facilities' nowhere to be seen, 'Festive goodies for all finishers' included a cup of water and a cheap mince pie. Supposed water station at 5K mark was nowhere to be seen either. Large part of the course was on grass which was very slippy and muddy and really unenjoyable. Prize giving was done and staff were packing up before the last runners had even crossed the finish line. Poor behaviour. Redeeming features were lovely friendly stewards and good atmosphere between runners. I won't be participating again in this event.

For a first time location the race went really well. Off road course, so more challenging than a flat 10km road race. Slightly confusing to where the course would go after doing the final climb on the last lap but other than a great experience.

I did the 2k funrun with my 6yr old son. Unfortunately, the organisation of the event was really lacking with no start or finish line, and 2 marshals for the whole course. It was supposed to start at 10am, we got there at 9.40 to be told everyone else had already gone. Not really an event to show a small child the excitement of an mass event to get them into sports!! Disappointed :-(

It was the first race held at this event and it shows tbf. The toilets were about half a mile from the start, the drop off point was literally a sheet on the floo, not impressed with that but as it was right next to the car park it was safer to just leave in the car. The course was good apart from a little bridge that go’s over a stream, it was like something out of Shrek with the draw bridge to the castle lol a piece was missing that you had to jump over and the pieces before and after looked rotten so it felt like you had to jump over 3 pieces of wood. I’m sure it wasn’t advertised as trail run as well. majority of it is on grass but the course is a nice one shame about everything else

Hoped it would have been a bit more "Christmassy". No music or decoration. If runners hadn't have been dressed up you wouldn't have known it was a Christmas run. Bag drop should have been at the start/finish line, not the carpark. Lovely course though, even with the hills and mud! Great fun.
