Route information
Day 1: London to Harwich - 83 miles
Day 2: Holland to Amsterdam - 53 miles
Both routes will be along open roads.
On day 1 you'll set out from Trafalgar Square, head through Leytonstone to get to Essex. Once out of London, the route will follow quiet country roads, passing through Writtle and Colchester before ending up in Harwich.
The second day of cycling will be entirely in the Netherlands, starting from the Hook of Holland and finishing at Art Square in Amsterdam.
The Netherlands is notoriously flat, which will make for a more pleasurable ride.
* There will be cycle leaders at the front and back of the group to show the way and make sure no one gets left behind.

You will have the option to pay an additional fee for your bike and personal belongings to be transported back to the UK for you.
Bikes and belongings can be collected from Letchworth, Hertfordshire at an arranged time from the following Monday evening.

Age Requirements
All participants must be either over 18 or between 15 and 17 years old and accompanied by an adult.
Overnight Ferry
You will be taking a ferry from Harwich across the North Sea to the Hook of Holland.
The ferry will be fairly luxurious with restaurants, bars, a cinema and free wifi. The cabins have en-suite towels and bedding.

How will I get back to London after the London to Amsterdam Cycle?
Travel from Amsterdam to London will need to be organised by participants themselves. There is the option for the Challenge Central team to take your bike and personal belongings back to the UK for an additional fee.
What kind of bike should I use for the London to Amsterdam Cycle?
Road bikes are recommended for this event with hybrid bikes being an alternative. It is possible to use a mountain bike but that is strongly discouraged.
What documentation will I need for the London to Amsterdam Cycle?
All participants will need to bring their passport. If you do not have a passport, you will not be able to take part. Similarly, if you are required to have a visa to enter the Netherlands, you must organise that yourself. Participants will also need to have a copy of their travel insurance with them.
Is there any danger of me being left behind during the London to Amsterdam Cycle?
No. There will be a cycle leader at the front and back of the group, showing the way and making sure no one is left behind.
