Did the race in 2019
Lordshill 10k is my club's own race, and the grand finale of the Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL). The standout featuire of the race is the organisation, atmosphere and marshalling - which is absolutely first rate. This year there were almost 100 marshals and directors on the course, which is sixteen per mile! Race instructions are sent out early and clearly, and transfers are accomodated much later than some equivalent local races, with no restrictions on affilliation or gender (take note rival events). The course is as tale of two halves - mainly flat and fast for the first 5k wth a pleasant out and back section, followed by about 1.5k slightly uphill into some winding (but wide) suburban roads, then a final push downhill for a fast section towards the finish. Many runners acheive PBs despite the hot weather (it is always late June) and the course has at least three water stations (there were four this year) so the effects of the heat aren't overwhelming. Best of all, the race is very environmentally conscientious. Water at stations is in compostable cups, water at the finish is in 100% recyclable cans and banana skins at the end are separated and composted. The race start/finish also has a DJ, free massages, a coffee van and sportswear stall. All in all, this race is a belter - sign up when it opens for next year!

First time running at the Lordshill 10k and it was a fab event, well organised and a good route! I love the fact you’ve got cans of water instead of plastic bottles! Thanks! I’ll be back next year

Did the race in 2017
I've run this race as an unaffiliated runner in 2014 and again as a member of the club team in 2017. I've been involved with the organisation in 2015 & 2016. I can honestly say this is a fantastic race - a fast & flat course makes it comperitve and PB-ready and the marshals and support are very welcome! The course does have a few sharp turns, and narrows after about 1km, but it is well planned and managed. It is perfect for runners of all abilities, and I would recommend it if you are attempting a PB. This is one of the best road races in Hampshire, and the best summer road 10k in the area.
