Manchester 5k & 10k, MoRun routes

Heaton Park, the site of the hugely popular Parklife Music Festival, is a stunning location for MoRun. The undulating course has a mix between path and trail running. Some areas are uneven and muddy, so the route is suitable for buggy runners but not for wheelchair users. Please note that there are 2 road-crossings on the route, so it is important to take due care. There will be marshals and kilometre markings around the route.

Laps:

  • 5k: 1 Lap
  • 10K: 2 Laps

Kit List

This is a fancy dress event, with special prizes for the best costume, so don't forget to dress up! It is especially encouraged to draw on or wear a fake moustache (unless you've grown one already, that is). You will receive your free MoRunning Headband in your race pack, so make sure to put it on before the race.

Please make sure that your Bib race number is fully visible on the outside.

Am I allowed to wear headphones?

Headphones are allowed, but you must make sure that you are aware of your surroundings and are able to hear instructions from marshals and fellow runners.

Spectators

This is a great family event, with lots of silly fancy dress and groovy music, so it will be great fun to come and watch. You're more than welcome to come along and cheer your friends and family around the course. There's also a strong charitable focus, so the more support the better.

Volunteers

Can I volunteer or marshal at the event?

If you are not able to take part in this year's races but would still like to take part in the event by volunteering or marshalling, you would be hugely welcome. There are plenty of roles available, and volunteers tend to work from 8am-12pm. In return, you will receive snacks, drinks, and free entry to a future event. If you would like to volunteer, please email [email protected]

Do I need to fundraise for the Movember Foundation?

Fundraising is not compulsory, but anything you can raise would make a big difference. When you enter, you have the option of making a donation. You can fundraise for any charity of your choice.

There was a good mix of ability at the event but there was a friendly atmosphere.

No problems at all, plenty of car parking, good course route
  • Did the 10K in 2018

I thought the event overall was really good. Great atmosphere and the course was tough but a good challenger. The only thing I would change would be the details given before the race. We got a taxi to the car park post code on the letter inside our packs and it took us to a car park on the other side of the start of the race. From there, it wasn't clear where we should go to get to the start. We got there because another runner had the same problem. Just a bit clearer with the instructions would be helpful next time. Thanks.
