Route information
The 3.28 mile course will be within the Samphire Hoe nature reserve and along the sea wall. You'll go out and back along this route, returning to base camp after 3.28 miles. The terrain will be mostly smooth paths and pavement with a few pebbles to look out for.
You can complete as many or as little laps as you can within the 6 hours.
Please remember that Samphire Hoe will be open to the public and you will be sharing the paths with the public, that includes dog walkers, fishermen, ramblers and cyclists so you will need to be aware of your surroundings.

There is a car park on-site. Charges are: up to 30 mins 50p, 30 mins - 2 hours £1.00, Over 2 hours £2.00. Disabled badge holders and motorcycles are free.
By Car
Access via the Dover to Folkestone carriageway off the A20 is signposted by the brown tourist signs. You access Samphire Hoe through a traffic light controlled tunnel in the cliff. The access tunnel is 4.8m tall.

Race Numbers
You'll pick up your race number on the morning of the event from the registration desk at the race base camp.
Age Requirements
Children over the age of 11 are permitted to take part in this event so long as they are accompanied by an adult at all times and do not exceed the following distances.
- Aged 11-12 can run a maximum of 5k
- Aged 13-14 can run a maximum of 6k
- Aged 15 can run a maximum of 10k
- Aged 16 can run a maximum of 15k
- Aged 17 can run a maximum of 25k
In Memory of Steve Bush
For those who were at the 2022 event will recall the awfully sad incident at about mile 26 when Steve Bush collapsed, suffered a cardiac arrest and despite the best efforts from runners, paramedics and the staff at William Harvey Hospital after being airlifted out of Samphire Hoe he passed away a couple of weeks later.
To remember Steve SVN are going to start the 2023 event about 300 yards from base camp where he collapsed, there will be a minute's applause and then you can all run/jog/walk back to the finish to earn the badge....and then you will start off the event as usual.
Aid Station
You'll visit the aid station after every 3.28 mile lap. This will be fully stocked by the event organiser but you are welcome to leave your own on the table for runner's supplies.
On-site Facilities
There will be toilets available from 07:00 by the car park close to the start/finish area.
Headphones and Earphones
You will be able to use headphones and earphones during the 6 Hour Challenge. Please have the volume low and be aware of others you are sharing the space with.

Samphire Hoe is open to the public from 07:00 till dusk. It is a great location for spectators to take a walk and support the runners.

Can I listen to music whilst I run the Marathon Day Challenge?
Yes. Please keep the volume low so you're aware of your surroundings as the space is shared with the public.
What kind of shoes will I need to wear for the Marathon Day Challenge?
Road shoes should be fine for this course. The majority of the route will be along perfect surfaces bar a few pebbles.
Will there be toilets at the Marathon Day Challenge?
Yes, there are toilets close to the start/finish area.
Will there be a bag drop at the Marathon Day Challenge?
No, there won't be an official bag drop area but you are welcome to leave your bag at the start/finish area. Someone will always be around however all items are left at their own risk.
When will I get my race number for the Marathon Day Challenge?
All race numbers will be picked up on the day from the race base camp.
Is there somewhere to park for the Marathon Day Challenge?
Yes, there is a car park on-site. The cost to park for 2+ hours is £2.
Do I have to run for the whole 6 hours of the Marathon Day Challenge?
Not at all! You can run as many or as little laps as you can or want to. You will have to complete a minimum of 1 lap in order to get a bespoke finisher's medal.
