This is a beautiful race, the scenery and views are amazing. Due to this being a trail run spectator support is at a minimum, however the checkpoint support was phenomenal and well stocked. The organisation of this run was brilliant, I would run this again. … read more

Route description
Route description

Traffic free course on a disused railway line.

This is a one-lap flat course which will be clearly marked. There will be drinks stations every 7 miles approx. The course is traffic free but does cross a number of busy roads, these will be marshalled.

The surfaces are generally good, and are suitable for normal road shoes.

The course has not been measured by a UKA approved course measurer, therefore the distances are approximate.

Absolutely loved it, one of my favourite marathons. Lovely, not too challenging course, fantastic marshals and great atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the experience, because it is along an old railway line, there are not many places that people can support you, and at times did feel quite lonely. The checkpoint was excellent, plenty to eat and drink with someone marking you off to stay you had arrived. A nice crowd of people at the end of the race at the town hall with plenty of space to recover. All the marshalls were very friendly and helpful.

The event was nicely set up. It has the less common flavour of being an A to B route which, on reviewing your Strava gives you a better appreciation of the distance covered. There was an option of an early bus to get you from finish to start, but I had my own travel organised. Was nice to catch up with the half marathoners in the second part of the run and I imagine therefore a nice consistent stream of finishers at the end.Good food and tea at the end and plenty of seats to rest.Nice relevant medal. With 2 of my household doing the event (one half and one full) it was nice for us both to finish at the same place with no to great a time difference.

None although worth carrying own water as water stops were not as frequent as mentioned (I had water pack so I was fine!)
