Route information
This race to the summit of Winter Hill, the highest television transmitting antenna in the UK, is the perfect opportunity to test your running technique over a variety of mixed terrain and elevation in this out and back run up the summit.
This fully signposted and marshaled route begins at the Smithills School Pavilion. Runners will race 5k up to the summit, take in the views before rounding the summit marker and making their way 5k back to the finish line, cheered on by their fans and spectators. The race climbs 1027ft to the highest elevation of 1448ft, giving runners the opportunity to hone both their uphill and downhill running.

Parking:
Free parking is available via the middle drive at Smithills school and will be signposted (parking opens at 8am).
Please be aware the Car Park closes at 9:50 am to 10:05am and again 10:30am to 11:30am to allow runners to Start/Finish traffic free, if you intend to make a quick exit when you finish please park on Smithills Dean Road.
Event day logistics
The Race will start and finish outside the School Pavilion (at the back of the Sports Centre).
Schedule:
08:00 - 09:45: Registration is open
10:00: Race begins
Age Criteria:
Participant Must be 15 Years or Over.
Prizes:
Their will be cash prizes (amount to be determined by race entries) for male and female runners in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
GBP 50 of bonus cash for the first runner to the mast summit.
All Vet winners receive an award - V35-V70 M/F
Baggage:
A bag drop area is located at registration. Please put your own labels on any baggage with your name and race number on it.
Toilets:
Toilets and changerooms will be located inside the Pavilion Room in the Smithill School (near registration).

Spectators are welcome anywhere around the course but please be aware it is not a closed course. We recommend spectators to come to the event village, where they will be able to cheer on the runners at the start and over the finish line.

No this run is not on traffic free roads so please be aware of the happenings around you. There will be marshals and signposts to keep you on the right track, but we recommend that you do not wear headphones.
Will there be merchandise to purchase?
Yes, runners will have the ability to purchase a £10 technical shirt or £20 hoodie at registration.
Will there be photos of the event?
