Route information
This 7 day epic event consists of 5k swimming, 1000k cycling and 50k running. It is a colossal challenge that will take you from Loch Ness to London in an unforgettable week. Participants will be fully supported throughout the challenge and will experience some of the most beautiful locations the UK has to offer, travelling past stunning lakes, winding rivers, quiet villages and up challenging mountains. For those not able to take on the full Monster, there are swim, cycle and run only packages available to experience one part of this mammoth adventure.
Day 1 Loch Ness to Fort William
The journey begins! Starting from Canal Side, Fort Augustus a 5k swim in the famous Loch Ness will be followed by 50k on the bike taking you to Fort William.
Day 2 Fort William to Glasgow
The first full day on the bike will cover 172k with 1497 metres of elevation. Riders will enjoy majestic countryside including the iconic Glencoe Pass and the shores of Loch Lomond. With most of the climbing taking place in the morning, the afternoon route will give the group some flat roads to ride.
Day 3 Glasgow to Carlisle
A further 190k will be covered with 1626 metres of elevation as riders really start to get into this journey. The route will take a direct path through the Scottish Boarders and it's rugged landscape.
Day 4 Carlisle to Haydock
The middle day of the trip sees the riders take on the longest day of the week with a massive 200k to be covered with 1749 metres of elevation. You will take on the famous Shap Pass as you travel through the undulating countryside of Lancashire.
Day 5 Haydock to Kidderminster
Hardly shorter than the previous day at 195k but with 1376 metres of elevation a flatter day will give some respite. After a flat first 80k however the hills of Shropshire will provide a tough challenge.
Day 6 Kidderminster to Windsor
The final day of cycling means you have broken the back of this amazing bike ride. Another huge day with 198k and 1595 metres of elevation will take the riders through Shakespeare Country and the lovely Warwickshire countryside. The Chiltern Hills will provide the last challenge before the descent into Windsor.
Day 7 Windsor to Richmond
The last challenge awaits! The Monster Triathlon concludes with a 50k ultra-marathon following the winding Thames all the way to the finish in Richmond!
