One for the bucket list, great organisation, race notes, ease of parking, straight forward registration. A challenging course, undulating, it's in the Lake District so what do you expect? Some spectacular views of the fells and Coniston Water

Great route, tough climbs. I think over 530m ascent. Bit over the top with kit requirement (seems certain people can just ignore kit requirements)

Love the Lakes and the views and thats why I prefer the trail runs. Tough events but what a place to run. Usually do the Lakeland trail series and usually perform well in these events. Decided to run the Montane 26 as part of my training for Tri X. Found it a challenging course and found it a useful excercise in terms accessing my fitness level. First 13 miles was better than the 2nd for me personally, finished in 4hr 54mins, had in my mind to do 4 hours. Ill be back next year and highly recommend for anyone wanting a different event with fantastic views. Make sure you train though.

A really well organised race, just like all the other Montane trail races. Plenty of well stocked food and drink stations along the route. Amazing views of lake Windermere and Coniston Water! If you're into trail running then this is definitely a date for the calendar. I'll be back next year!

It was tough to say the least. The first half was not as tough as the second so something had the be held back to be able to keep going the second half. It made it all the better with the weather being dry. Great organisation from Epic events as always and the marshals were appreciated at all locations including the check points. Can't wait for Dalemain 10K.

This is my 3rd time doing this race & I love it. It is always very well organised & a well marked out route. The weather was amazing this year with a fantastic view over Coniston. Cant wait to take part again next year.

It was the first marathon of the year while starting training for hardmoors 55 and the Lakeland 50 plus a couple of other races. I wont lie I did find it tough Im not at full fitness yet and I had my moment where I wanted to quit, but being the stubborn thing I am I carried on. I met some lovely people the marshals were fantastic, the tails were awesome but I love Grizdale. I would totally recommend this race to anyone who fancies a challenge, this is my second time of doing it the 26.7 and I said never again!! but still came back for seconds!!! And I will probably do the same again next year! The only thing I would change on it is putting the second half of the marathon as the first half, so the half marathons feel they have had a proper trail run but I do understand why this maybe cant be done due to road crossings. But other than that it was great tough but great

Enjoyed the day. Registration was well organised. No problem with the route. Just one point to maybe bear in mind, before the event we were sent a kit list which most people complied with. There did seem to be people carrying no kit at all. Perhaps this needs clarification whether the kit is compulsory or not?

The Grizedale 13 has to be one of my top 3 events I have ran. I loved the route and the views are amazing. The climbs were challenging but needed for my training for the Coniston Marathon challenge in June. T shirt - ladies fit and medal are great too. Great atmosphere and welcome at the finish line! Only one suggestion for improvement - move the feeding station to 6/7 miles - felt too long where it was.

Blessed with good weather, this was a cracking race! The views looking down onto Coniston water with the snowy backdrop were breathe taking..but that could have easily been all the climbing(!) Quite a lumpy course with varied terrain. Perfect for a trail shoe as the vast majority is run on fire road. I used Inov8 mudclaws which were good but could have suitably opted for something lighter. For all the climbs, there are many fun, winding, long descents. I would recommend getting your ticket in early as this event sells out very quickly. The race is well organised and the marshalls provided encouragement at every turn. Very much hope to come back next year in a title defence!

A very well organised event with some spectacular views, superb race information notes and video, very informative. On the day the staff and volunteers were excellent/faultless. Course was clearly marked. The course is mainly on forest paths, with plenty of up hills, with some spectacular views of Coniston Water and the Coniston Fells

My first time running the Grizedale Trail marathon, and I wasnt disappointed. Brilliantly organised from the start to the finish, all the marshalls and volunteers were absolutely great! The route was epic, especially the first half as we ran through the forest we were welcomed with spectacular views of Coniston and the snowy mountains, truly stunning! Absolutely amazing race and so well organised, with some good climbs and challenging descents! Have already signed up for Howgills Trail Marathon in May!

This is the third Montane Trail event I've done, and as ever it was very well organised, from the pre-race communication right through to finishing the race. The course was well marshalled and marked, with a feeding station. Not too technical, as most of the route was forest roads, but enough elevation and mud/stones to make it challenging.A good introduction to anyone wanting to take up Trail running. Will be back next year!

OK - so this was a race I selected as part of my build up the the Lakeland 50 this year, and got to say I wasn't disappointed. Ive been MTB through Grizedale before but never appreciated the scenery the same as when I was running - I was racing and stopping to take photos it was that breathtaking. So this set the event up to be good!. The route was well planned, first half went well, nothing too technical or too severe to smash the legs - leading me into a false sense of security for the second half, what was 'rolling' as Epic Events always describe their hilly routes. It didn't go as high as the first half, but it was on rocky single track and pretty severe up and downhills. It pushed me harder than I expected so more than ticked the boxes - highly recommend this but dont tackle it unprepared.

We were spoilt with amazing weather, but even if it had been more typical Lakeland weather this still would have been an amazing event. From parking, registration through to briefing and the marshalls etc, everything about this race was brilliant. For a Lake District race the paths are actually quite easy, there are a few nice technical fell sections, a lovely narrow path through the forest but in the main this is nice wide and firm forestry track so it's easier to keep a constant pace.

I try and run this race every year as it keeps me motivated through the winter to keep training. It is definitely not a race to just rock up and attempt...not if you want to enjoy it. I find this one of the toughest runs and always try and pace myself properly knowing that second loop.is a killer. It is very easy to get carried away with the flying starters but if you can just keep the tortoise and hare mentality you do find you start passing those runner's in the last sections of the run...its a technical run and correct choice of footwear essentisl... loved it this year as the weather was wonderful. Great event with fantastic organisers and the best Marshall's ever. Be back next year.

Tough course - first half was in Grizedale Forest mostly on wide "fire road" type tracks and hilly but not too bad. Second half was much more "lakeland" - bogs, steep, slippery rocky descents, but beautiful scenery. Good fun.

We were blessed with stunning weather this weekend which really made the race that much more enjoyable. A lovely atmosphere, well marked course (trail 13 but assume the second loop for the trail 26 would be equally well marked!).

The Grizedale 13 course was amazing. The sun was shining, there were fabulous views of the old man of Coniston and the running was awesome with a mix of great forest tracks with a bit of grass and single track thrown in to keep it interesting. Will definitely do this one again!
