Route information
Bike
Distance: 47 Miles, 82 miles, 102 miles
Terrain: Roads
Offering some great cycling and even better scenery, each route has long, straight sections that are massively fun, and tough hills, as well as some more gradual climbs. The maximum gradient is at Blissford hill near the end of each route where you will encounter a 25% climb. This is a short sharp climb that looks like a wall as you approach it.
Riders will see livestock on their routes, and hardly any traffic. Horses, in particular, tend to get easily spooked by passing cyclists, so please take care while enjoying what has become a favourite fixture in many people’s cycling calendar.
The 102 mile Epic route offers the more experienced sportive rider a fantastic challenge, and completely showcases the fantastic New Forest National Park. Be warned though – the last 20 miles of the epic route are the hilliest!
Run
Distances: Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k
Terrain: Mixed-Terrain
Taking place partly on the highway and partly on trails, the run courses are all beautiful. Rather than being wildly competitive, this run is designed for you to race yourself.
You can run up to a marathon if you want to within the 6 allocated hours. A marathon is three laps. The half is an out and back, or you can take on the 5k or 10k options.
Swim
Distances: 3.8k, 2.5k, 1.4k
Terrain: Lake
Taking place at the stunning Ellingham Water Ski Lake, this event has 3 routes to choose from, making it the perfect race for the experienced swimmer looking for a quick time or those training for long distance triathlons. However, if you're new to swimming, there are shorter courses for those looking to, literally, dip their toe into open-water swimming.

Had hoped that the course would have some off road sections although the lanes were quiet and pleasant

Did the race in 2022
I really, really enjoyed this event. The course was beautiful and peaceful, and not as hilly as I feared it would be. I especially enjoyed the low number of competitors, although I hope that didn't mean it wasn't worthwhile for the organisers. Refreshment stops were well-stocked and well-placed, and the staff were friendly. The only reason I've given 4 stars for organisation (and it'd be 4.5 if I could) is that I knew so little about the event before I arrived there. I don't know to what extent that's down to having booked through Let's Do This, but an email during the week leading up to the event would have made a huge difference, containing information such as: - Are there refreshment stops on the route? (Yes.) - How long before the start of the race is arrival advised? (35 minutes was more than enough, but I was worried I needed to be there 4 hours before!) - How far from the starting line is the car park? (100 yards or less!) - Is there a bag drop? (Not as such, but it's not really needed because the car park's so close.) In the end, I didn't need to have worried about any of those things, and if the event is run next year then I'll attend with confidence knowing what to expect, but having the information in advance would be better. I would (and will) very definitely recommend the event to anyone, and will be looking out for the opportunity to enter next year's event. Thanks to Challenging Events for putting on a great event :-)
