Route information
The course will be clearly signposted and marshalled to ensure you are headed in the right direction.
The course is currently 10.2k in length, with 650m of lovely smooth tarmac at the start of the race and again at the finish.
After the main gates, you head off for a short bale jump warm-up on the junior course before heading off to the main course. Leaving the road, you then head across an open grassy meadow with some big bale jumps and crawl nets to start you off. Once you head into the trees and over more bales, that’s the start of the first loop of the course. You will complete two circuits of this loop and then head back up the way you came across the meadow.
Please stick to the right-hand side throughout the course, you may find that you catch up with people or get caught by others on their second lap. Please make way for faster runners. If you are the faster runner; please be polite when passing others and let them know you’re coming.
And finally… take it easy! The obstacles are mainly made of wood and can get pretty slippy. The water section is approximately waist height so take care here. If you do notice anyone injured, please report it to the nearest marshal.

If you want a fairly flat small obstacle run then this is a brilliant one. Very friendly and well organised. It is brilliant to use as an early year training course aswell. Its my 3 year of doing it and I always look forward to it.

This race is good for those starting out at an obstacle based race and want to get a taster. None of the obstacles are taxing or hard as they are all really low and very easy to get over. Theres only the stack of hay-bales that require any actual climbing but again this is not hard. The course is all off road and uneven which I personally love. You go round the obstacle area twice in total. Theres a couple of water areas you need to get into but these are only thigh high max (and thats for the smallest of people doing it) you soon warm up after them.Organisation is ok, when I arrived there was no markers telling you where to register and collect my number so I just walked around a bit until I found it. The course is well marked out so no getting lost. They have one water station which is small plastic cups. If you want a full cup then collect three as theyre only a quarter full!! and filled from bottles of water. Im surprised they dont include the t-shirt with the cost of entry to be honest. Ive been involed with organising races previously and know exactly how much medals and t-shirts cost! They have a morning wave and an afertnoon wave and believe they do get full up, think this ensures the course is not too busy with it being in a limited area and going around it twice. it maximises the amount of runners they can fit in as well. If youve not done anything like this before then Id recommend it as a group and for a good laugh with your friends. Dont get me wrong if your looking for a tough mudder experience then youre going to be disappointed. Ill do it again purely to see if I can improve on my time.

Normanby Hall Adventure Race is a well organised event that caters for all abilities. The friendly atmosphere that Curly's Athletes create is outstanding. I personally have raced in every Adventure Race held at Normanby Hall and I love how each year they never fail to deliver. The course caters for all abilities, the support is amazing and the atmosphere, before, during and after is second to none. I also love the fact they also have a junior race and my children love taking part, and if that wasn't enough they go and provide the DOUBLER!! (Morning and Afternoon Wave). Attempt if you dare, I always do, its tough, but fun. In summary excellent course, outstandingly organised, fantastic atmosphere well worth your attention and entrance.

I have now attended all these events since they first started and Curlys Athletics provide a well organised and supported events. The adventure race is local event for me and love how they organise the event and the course itself is great as it caters for all abilities. The atmosphere generated by the team is second to none also with a junior race before the main event which my kids enter. Then to top of all off they have a doubler, do it in the morning then the afternoon if you dare. So I do. In summary great event, well organised would recommend to anyone...
