How far is the race?

You decide! The 3.7-mile off-road loop means your race can be just over 5k or even over 50k and anywhere in between. You decide how many laps you're going to do on the day within the 6-hour time limit. If you're looking to cover a marathon distance, you'll need to complete 8 laps (29.6 miles) and a half marathon will be 4 laps (14.8 miles).

Oak Challenge route

The course isn't flat but there aren't steep inclines. Each lap has around 160ft of elevation, making the marathon distance 1280ft of elevation.

The course is on the track pathways on "the other side" at Hicks Lodge. Given the nature of the track, there won't be muddy sections. In really bad weather, there may be puddles but generally there is good drainage throughout.

Kit List

We suggest running road or trail shoes would be suitable. Running in "racers" probably isn't wise though, as there may be the occasional big stone on the pathway that wouldn't be much fun on ultra thin soles.

The majority of our events are challenge events - multi-lap races with a time limit rather than a set distance. This means people can run all different distances on the same day, making for a great atmosphere. Lapped events can get some negative feedback but our laps are around beautiful locations. We avoid out and back laps and coming back to the wonderful aid station (full of your requests) can be a good motivator. Whether it's your A race, you need to do some long training runs, you have a 100-mile ultra in a few weeks or you want to hammer out a quick 10k, our races allow everyone to get involved together. We’re also expanding our mid-week evening 10K series too. Keep an eye out for updates on these as we are continually adding more. Expect the same care and attention and in the same great locations!

The best event I have attended. Everyone super friendly and helpful. Well marked out route with great views and countryside. Feed station well stocked with whatever you need, want or just fancy.
Fab medal, delicious beer and the best flapjack I’ve ever tasted at the finish.
