This is a tough course! Not huge hills but "undulating" from about 2 miles until 11. The toughest bit is that the terrain is muddy grass, country lanes and muddy bridle paths. Don't let that put you off though! A hard choice is the running shoes - First time I wore road shoes and struggled in the mud, this year I wore trail shoes and smashed my legs on the lanes! However, this is my favourite race and will be back again next year! As it's quite a small field, there will be time you are running on your own, but a good opportunity to make new running friends.

I found the race great. Very challenging through the mud but I still had a great experience. A few marshals were too quiet and some points we needed more cheers and support to keep us going through the course. Drink stations were amazing and so well organised. Overall a very good event.

A superb emotional experience! Thank You.I have only been running for 5 months and built up to 13.1 miles a few weeks back albeit on pancake flat roads. As this event was very local to me I signed up. Didn't know what to expect, I suppose my biggest fear was getting lost, but the every junction was signposted and had a marshal. The terrain did take me by surprise, a lot more mud than I was expecting and there was a killer hill at the half way point.

VERY muddy around the lake at the start/finish, also in the wooded areas. Good mixture of footpath and quiet road terrain. Loved it!

Really enjoyable. Well organised. Loved the pit stops and choice of beverages and jelly babies ! Only complaint was no toilet en route. Had to grin and bear it 5 miles before the finish! Would have been good to advise on what shoes to wear. My road ones got caked in mud.

The organisation was great the races started on time and live results as you crossed was a good touch. The course was tough as a first half marathon but good mix of off and on road as well as a couple of steep hills to tire the legs. The rain before the event made the off road sections slippery. I will be doing the race again next year

This was my first ever 1/2 marathon, it was wet muddy hilly and cold and loved every minute the organisation was great the drinks stations well placed and well stocked even though I was one of the slowest only disappointing was the lack of people at the finish but as said it was very cold great medal
