  • Did the Oxford Town & Gown Childrens Fun Run in 2019

A flat route in the centre of Oxford, but not one I enjoyed particularly. It feels like the venue and area of Oxford used, has outgrown the size of the event. I wonder if the organisers should consider changing the route and using part of the half marathon route, which is more spacious (albeit less 'scenic')
I didn't see a single KM marker. If they were there, then they were not at all clear(fluorescent yellow ones like in most races would help!). The course is very windy and there is a lot of congestion for the first few KM as the roads are very narrow, and are not completely blocked off for runners (only half the road is closed).
Even just leaving the Park to get to the start was congested due to the gates that need to be used. IT's a good 5/10 minute walk to the start and then it's a case of trying to find the correct starting area, based on predicted time. I thought I had plenty of time for the loo beforehand, but the enormous loo queue (of about 20/25 minutes) meant I was still in that queue until 10 mins before the start. It was a bit of a scramble to find the correct place for me to start.
I did appreciate the effort to reduce plastic consumption, but more could have been done on this front
