An annual 46-mile long-distance challenge walk around the four main Airbases. It takes place as close to the 21st of June as possible to get the maximum amount of daylight. Walkers set off at 4a.m. with 20 hours to complete the Walk. It is a gruelling test of strength, stamina and map reading skills. The masochists amongst you try to run it, they set off at 8a.m. The participants have a ‘walkers card’ which is marked off at eight checkpoints around the walk, and your progress is recorded.

Hello! As far as I understand, the runners are given 16 hours to complete the race. I have read on their website that if runners do not reach the checkpoint they will be picked up by the Roving Patrols and will be withdrawn. I worry that I will not be quick enough, but desperately want to finish running the route. What sort of pace are runners expected to compete in order to reach every checkpoint before their closure? Thank you

Hello there, just to let you know that the runners are given 20 hours to complete the race and not 16. The pace that you would need to hold to complete this is under a 26.05/miles. Best of luck!
