This scenic and hilly course is one for the ages. With participants flying up Pikes Peak Mountain, they will take in the gorgeous scenery that surrounds this panoramic area.
The lung-busting 7,815-foot elevation on the Marathon course is sure to leave all runners feeling satisfied once they scale the Pikes Peak summit with participants heading through the John Barr Trail and No Name Creek.
There is a notable uphill section between the 7.6 and 12.3 mile points where runners will climb from Barr Camp to the top of Pikes Peak.
Those competing in the ascent will finish the race at the top of the mountain whilst those competing in the full marathon will descend to the finish point. Runners should make sure to leave something in the tank though, with the average descent time at 63% of a runner's ascent time.
Aid stations are located at the 1.65, 2.8, 4.3, 5.3, 7.6, 10.2, 11.9 and 13.3 mile points.
