Route information
The QECP Off Road 1/2 Marathon is a well-established event which is now taking place for the third year running.
Starting at Queen Elizabeth Country Park, which is a large country park situated on the South Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is conveniently located on the A3 south of Petersfield, Hampshire.
This amazing early-season trail run has it all, spectacular tree-lined trails, magnificent views and sturdy trails which are a pleasure to run on. The route starts and finishes in QECP exploring its hard packed off-road trail network. The Epic and Standard routes head out of the park where you'll enjoy running through the ancient woodland at ‘Head Down’ before reaching the iconic South Downs Way. From here both routes loop back to the park via the famous local trail called the ‘Milky Way’.
Back in the Park, all 3 routes combine together to explore ‘War Down’ which boasts weatherproof, tree-lined gravel tracks. You will get a real sense of being at one with Nature and allowing your mind to wonder whilst your legs clock up the kilometres.
What better place to experience trail running than with a course that allows you to experience multiple terrains and overloads your senses with such a variety of incredible views. Regardless of experience or ability, we actively encourage new runners to our events and have 3 route lengths to choose from: Epic (21k), Standard (15k) and Short (9k).

Great venue but I was expecting distance markers around the route, so I had no idea how far was left to run, and the marshals at water stations etc didn't know either?

Was a good course, although the recent wet weather made parts difficult and increase the risk of falls. Would definitely run again in drier conditions!

The route was first promoted as 9k, closer to the event it became a 10k but was in fact (according to watches) 8.6kTold there would be top ups for water en route, but there was none. Also saw containers of jellies en route - I guess to boost runners, but unmanned so not distributed.Paid organisers to park on a separate site, which was soaked grass so got stuck and needed help getting out. I pointed the risk out on entry but was told it would be £10 to park in QE Park. Once in I found it would have been £4.50 and it was tarmac, no bog, no getting stuck.
