Route information
Both the Rebellion and the Thwarted Rebellion follow the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail, one of the newest National Trails. It links many places associated with Owain Glyndwr and is where is gets its name. Owain Glyndwr was the last Welshman to hold the title Prince of Wales and led a rebellion against the English. The route has an unusual shape due to the way it links the places.
The Rebellion
This route follows the full length of the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail with a total ascent of just over 25,000ft (7700m). The event starts in Knighton, just on the Welsh border and loops through Machynlleth.
The event finishes in Welshpool, and is one of the most beautiful and demanding ultra running routes in the UK.
Thwarted Rebellion
This route follows the first 75 miles of the Glyndwr’s Way National Trail with a total ascent of just over 12,500ft (3810m). The event starts in Knighton, just on the Welsh border and finishes in Machynlleth.
Checkpoints
There are a number of checkpoints en route which will all be a community hall/leisure centre that will be well-stocked with food, hot drinks and water.
The Rebellion route has 4 checkpoints that runners must pass and the Thwarted Rebellion has 2.

Cut-Off Times
The Thwarted Rebellion has a cut-off time of 40 hours, and the Rebellion a cut-off time of 60 hours.
To finish the Thwarted Rebellion in that time, runners must maintain an average of just 1.85 miles (3k) per hour to complete the race. To finish the Rebellion, runners must maintain 2.25 miles (3.6k) per hour to complete the race.
Support Crews
A support crew is permitted for this event but crew must not enter the aid stations to ensure the team can concentrate on the runner.

No, there will not be a bag drop at this event. 1 finish bag is allowed and will be made available to runners at the finish-line. These bags must be compact and completely sealed when handing them to the organisers at the start of the event.
