Course Details

The Richmond Park 10k course is a two lap route covering the paths and trails within the boundaries of Richmond Park. The course has been measured using a GPS and, because of its multi terrain nature, cannot carry an official course measurement certificate. The route will be clearly marked using large route arrows and directional cones, as well as being marshalled throughout. We would ask you to remember that we do not have exclusive use of the park and you should be aware that other park users will be on the course.

The route is an undulating course with no significantly testing hills and covers a selection of hard track, tarmac with a small section on grass. You will pass around various sections of the park through Sheen Wood and past the Teck Plantation. You will also pass Bishops Pond and Richmond Gate. You may even be lucky enough to spot one of the many roaming herds of Red or Fallow Deer that have been known to watch the race as you pass down Sawyers Hill on a few occasions!

Getting there on foot and by bicycle

The park is accessible by both foot and cycle although it is around a long walk from Richmond. The start and finish of the race is on the Mortlake and Barnes side of the park. If you choose to cycle to the event you can leave your cycles with us at the race registration area whilst you run.

Getting there by car

For those who wish to drive to the event there is a car park adjacent to the race HQ and start. Remember that the car park is shared with other park users, so you’re advised to arrive as early as you can. You will be able to see the registration/start area from the car park and there will be signage to direct you.
There is strictly no parking on any grassland or roads. For those using a Sat Nav the post code for the event is SW14 8BJ.

Getting there by bus

There are number of buses that travel to Richmond Park, however it is a large park so you will need to get buses which arrive at the North side of the park and alight at Bus Stop N and it is then a 10 minute walk from Upper Richmond Road to the event. The buses that travel to Richmond Park are:

  • 190 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • 391 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • 419 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • R68 Bushy Park and Richmond

Specific Northside busses are

  • 33 Hammersmith – Richmond
  • 337 Richmond – Clapham Junction
  • 485 Richmond – Wandsworth

Getting there by train

There are three stations surrounding the park and these are Richmond, Mortlake and Barnes. The closest station to the start and race HQ is Mortlake and it is then a 20 minute walk from the station to the park.

  • Toilets
  • Baggage Drop Off

First Aid

St John’s Ambulance will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

This was my 1st 10k and i was a little disappointed. Toilets were awful ( toilets would not flush) and we had to pay which was not mentioned before hand to the best of my knowledge. Thought the route was okay, I would have preferred a straight 10k run, instead of having to do 2 circuits of the 5k route. Although I was not the fastest nor the last to finish, I thought it lacked atmosphere for the slower runners.

After initial annoyance at the email telling me the bib would be posted out (I wouldn't have received it as I was in holiday in Richmond) I was relieved I could pick it up on the day. The run was a lovely route, pity it was 2 laps but relieved it was a lot cooler than previous days parkrun. Volunteers all very friendly & helpful. Great medal.

Lovely course with beautiful scenery. Fewer runners than I'd expect but that was great coz it meant it wasn't too crowded and barring a few inconsiderate people who run side by side in narrower parts (happens everywhere!) it was easy to go at your own pace & overtake where you wanted to. Only downside was just 3 ladies loos - woefully inadequate and there must have been a number of women who were forced to go to the start with a full bladder or start late.

Really enjoyed the run, there wasn't much info at the start and an official warm up would be good.

A well-organised race with good marshalling and prizes for all categories. I even managed to win one!

I do looked forward to this run but unfortunately the heat just got the better of me. Such a pity this run started so late as by 10am it was Scorturing hot. Very disappointed in the result and the whole experience.
