Well organised, contingencies put in place when race packaging arrive. Growing atmosphere but still only a few spectators.
Great event - first year for me. Enjoyed the friendly atmosphere- tractor on the course route was a pain in the bum / could waited 20 mins !
My first organised run... And went very well. Got a great time and training for my first 10k now.
My first Romsey 5mile. Had a great time, super atmosphere and surroundings, look forward to doing it again next year. Thank you to everyone involved in its organising.
Decent race. Well organised. Quite busy when we started lapping people on the second lap but managed well.
It was well organised and went smoothly. A little confusing for later finishers as people were walking several abreast and they had little space to head towards finish line. Nice medal and t shirt thank you
Great course although short section of compacted gravel was a tad longer than Id expected. Fastest results service I have ever had.... got text result before my medal!
Great race, just the right amount of people on the course so you could run to your maximum. Fast flat course.
Fast and flat, ideal for setting 5M PB. Very well organised and friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to next years race already.
First official run, loved it! Have signed up to next offbeat event in Winchester. Great motivation to run more!
First time at this event, very well organised and everything seemed to run smoothly. Would have enjoyed a route that took in more of the estate grounds but was still a very enjoyable run. Thank you
Absolutely loved the race! Flat course and new PB so a great way to spend Sunday morning! Could have done with less loops but logistically I know it was necessary
Fantastic event and inclusive for all levels of runners. Ample parking in near by carparks. Couldve done with a few more loos. Medal and tshirt are top notch!!
Second year I have run this course and I wasn't disappointed. Well organised, great atmosphere and not an undulation in sight. Roll on next year.
Great venue running around the wide paths in the beautiful setting of the Broadlands Estate. We will definitely be back next year.
This was my first time at Romsey. Friendly marshalls and good support, some Gosport road runners had travelled just to support aswell. Great blng and t shirt
Great race, flat course and good tarmac paths. There was some difficulty overtaking lapped runners as some were wearing headphones and could not hear us coming. Also the gravel path was quite narrow and this didn't help with the overtaking. I do think that you should consider giving prizes to the top runners and teams. Even just giving vouchers for a pair of new trainers would be gratefully received. Many other road races give prizes to the top 3 in each category and this helps to attract better quality athletes. All in all it was a great race and I will definitely do it again.
Love the race so much and have done it three times now! Although the course can't be a little boring doing three laps of the same part and also the long stretch towards the end can be tedious but the scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere among the runners and the crowd is amazing!
Only thing that disappointed me was the tractor on the course at the turn around point now where to run in the road.
It's a really well organised event, a lovely flat 5 mile course which is excellent for spectators. As a member of a local running club, it is one of our favourite races which brings the club together allowing club members not competing to cheer on their fellow runners. Looking forward to it again next year! Many thanks.
Good course for a early season time, and enjoyed greatly. My only criticism would be, that a print out of times/placings was not available post race, to see if you had won a prize. Also in the vets catagory a second or third prize would have been nice.
Really well organised event. It would be good if there was a bag drop available in the hall -as in reality people just leave stuff there anyway (I did and it was fine). One point on course - could the marshalls encourage the slower runners to keep left once they start getting lapped, I aren't the fastest runner, but in quite a few instances slower runners are running in a big group and basically blocking the path/road particularly on the section from start/finish to the bottom section (ie by turn down to cottage) on their second/my third lap
Lovely flat route some track but not much. Perfect for beginners trying to up their distance or more experienced runners trying for a PB
the atmosphere was brilliant, the announcing at the start was rubbish as you couldn't here a thing. Medal and tee are fine.
It was my first race at this event. Thought it was well organised and offered free parking too. Course was excellent and overall, a positive experience too!
Stress free application.? Tick. Posted Bib number (and safety pins!)? Tick. Clear and frequent pre-event information and communication? Tick. Chip Timing? Tick. UKA Measured course? Tick. Nice and flat smooth surfaces? Tick. Fast PB course? Tick. Cool local location? Tick (Broadlands man! - it's got Royal connections y'know?) Locals out in force to support? Tick. Toilets - portable urinals (why can't they ALL think of this???) Tick. Mint / Awesome Medal & Tech Shirt? Tick. In summary, a fantastically organised local race that I will run again in future and will actively recommend to anyone. They even arranged for perfect racing conditions - sun peeping through, 9 Degrees C, Little wind and not a hint of rain. The start was very well organised with local volunteers holding placards providing convenient start locations based upon anticipated finish times - nice touch (beats being in a pen). A well manned water station was provided on the out and back leg of the course - giving the chance to drink twice later in the race. Handy. Bottled water also provided at the finish. Local coffee van on tap was a godsend too. If I could change anything, it would be to somehow lose the 180 degree turn on the out and back leg (I hate having to pretty much slow down to a stop when in full 5 mile pace, turn, then accelerate again back to 5 mile pace again) and the finish 'bend' is perhaps a little sharp, taking a slight bit of edge off the finishing dash....if it could be a straight 'slip' off the main straight, that'd be perfect. Neither of these two items of change would stop me doing this race again - it's just mere food for thought for the organisers -whom should give themselves a pat on the back for putting on such an excellent well run event. Thank you to all the volunteers that made this races possible - you're the real heroes. Craig
I really enjoyed this race. I thought the course was ideal in the weather, and actually would still have been ok in bad weather under foot apart from being open to the elements. Everything ran smoothly and on time. Would definitely like to run this next year.
The best PB 5 mile course in the area. Well organised with the race number mailed to you beforehand and good use of pacing signs to help people start in a sensible position
I thought the race was really well organised, both prior to the race and on the day itself. It was a great location with all the facilities you need. Very much enjoyed the race and managed to get a pb!
Course and organisation was great. Maybe a marquee/gazebo at the start/finish where participants can leave things, even if at own risk. Only criticism was the lack of respect shown by those leaving the race and walking along the path that runners were still heading in on. Maybe tape along the path to the finish line to stop people walking along it would be good next year.
Enjoyable, relaxed race as usual and for once it wasn't raining! Always a good opener for the year.
Lovely day, PB course - flat and fast. Scenic, well organised. Free parking in Romsey, good turn out. Faster runners lap the slower ones with shouts of keep left!. Cool medal, nice Tshirt, good support. Watch out for tractors!!!
Great race, loved the shirt and bling - just thought some of the marshalls were a little quiet and unenthusiastic.
Really enjoyable well organised event. The only thing I would mention is that a tractor was using the already fairly narrow lane during lap 3 which meant that we had no choice but to run single file and I'm pretty sure he must have held up the runners behind him!
This was the first time I had completed this race. I really enjoyed it and helped it being flat! I would definitely do it again. A nice race to get motivated on January.
I was really looking forward to my first time at the Romsey 5 mile race, as were 20+ other members of my running group RunVerity from Whiteley. So firstly the good points;. The course was excellent, nice and flat, and for the most part, well maintained roads / paths, looping through the Broadlands estate with some super views. The start was well organised, with runners encouraged to start according to their pace, in sections indicated with time markers. The finish medal, and the tee shirt were fantastic. The weather was perfect, and a flat and fast course brings out many very talented and fast runners hoping for a PB, , so there were lots in attendance. There were however many more runners who run at a slower pace, still keen to run at their best and achieve a PB, or to run for fun, or just for the enjoyment that running can bring. All runners had paid the same entry fee, and should have expected to be treated equally, and with respect. It was therefore really disappointing to hear several of the faster front runners shouting abuse at the slower runners. I was appalled to hear one of the faster runners shout at someone "get out of the f***ing way, and take your f***ing ear buds out". This language, and aggressive attitude is not acceptable, and should not be tolerated. Unfortunately, I get the impression that this type of behaviour is tolerated when it comes from the "elite". The only way this behaviour (from any runner) will stop in future is if there is some sort of sanction, such as disqualification. Whilst it was sensible to have a lead cyclist warning people that the front runners were coming through, the choice of words could have been better. "Runners coming through", is accurate, but surely we're all runners, and maybe "leaders coming through" would have been better. I bet you think this sounds really petty, but for some people, maybe not blessed with natural running talent, who have struggled through hours of training just to be able to run continuously for 5 miles, the inference that the people lapping you are the runners, and maybe you are not, can be tough to take. Whilst the course in part was slightly congested in places, there was plenty of room to accommodate every one, and plenty of opportunities to get past. I think it would have been useful to give some guidance to all runners regarding etiquette, how slower runners should keep left and not run 5 or 6 abreast, and how faster runners should pass on the right, and may, if required have to step on the grass. It should be announced that aggressive behaviour to fellow runners would not be tolerated, and this should then be enforced. Unfortunately, a few selfish people, left unchecked have taken the shine off of what could have been the best race of the year.
This is the second year I have attended this race and it lived up to expectations. Well organised with good pre race communications (an often overlooked important thing!) and a great atmosphere! The course is great, scenic and varied enough to add a little extra challenge. The race medals were, again, lovely and to get a T shirt too for the entry price is brilliant value!
Great race, really well organised & had a fantastic time. Keep up the good work!
My first run after having flue so I was not quick but really enjoyed the whole race . Parking was a problem until I found waitrose carpark. Water and banana were very welcome , shirt and medal excellent. Staff and Marshalls great . Course was beautiful, possible slip hazard around last bend by the loos maybe a few cones to keep runners off grass would help ! Very well done and see you next year
Such an enjoyable even with lovely surroundings! Nice flat course which I always like so great for a PB! The course is well signposted as you run two laps then a loop! Nice medal! T shirts were a lot nicer this year than last year too!
Great event as always. Much better with posting the numbers out so just turn up and run. Thanks everyone involved and a special thanks to all the marshals for their encouragement around the route.See you next year.
A very enjoyable race, very fast and great for spectators who see 4 laps! Recommend for all levels of runner
Really enjoyed my first race! Fantastic location & well organised. Lovely medal and t shirt too!
This is such a well organised event, good pre race information and easy to park. Its a quick course, well marshalled with a friendly atmosphere. All that took part from Hatch Warren Runners posted PBs and its a great event to kick start your running season. Very good value and like the fact no poly bags were given out post race. Really nice medal and T-shirt too will definitely be back next year
Wonderful run in a lovely venue - superbly organised with a great atmosphere.
Ran Romsey a couple of years ago and was ok with it. This year it seemed to be more buzzy and was a fun race, most enjoyable. Medal and Ts both excellent , well done. Will be back next year.

Did the 5 Miles in 2018Great flat course, weird psychology due to initial laps!Spoiled slightly by the choice of words used by marshals asking us to keep left for fast runners coming through! - we are *all* runners thank you very much, and our enjoyment is equally important to the fast ones. Please consider a simple Keep left please or something similar. Also heard one marshal say to another yeah, they move over but they move back again as if we are idiots.
Some parts of the course were way too congested and I felt like I was going to be pushed over , also running the same Laps I got confused if I had ran too many . Need to change the course or have less people
It was great, the only thing was the path was very narrow, so it was very hard to get round people at the start (it was quite muddy so I didnt want to risk twisting an ankle on the grass!) it might help to make it clearer to people that they need to stay to one side because not many seemed to be doing it!
