Rough Runner – Manchester routes

We’ll have a 5km route with around 10 obstacles, a 10km route with 15, and all 20 obstacles on our 15km route if you’re up for the toughest challenge. We never do laps at Rough Runner, but everyone who joins us for the game show-inspired journey will cross the Travelator at the finish line. So you can consider that particular childhood dream fulfilled!

Event Details

What’s Included

Entry Fees Include:

  • A drop bag service for free!
  • A free medal to show off!
  • We won’t be throwing in a cheap cotton T-shirt – we dropped our ticket prices instead. (We do, however, have a much higher quality, sexy, technical T-shirt available for a mere £17.50, which you can get at the checkout when you buy your ticket. For those that miss the boat you can also get them on the day of the event, but expect to pay a little extra!)A
  • And we'll be throwing in a free Roughian wristband.
Raceday Logistics

Start times will be from around 9am through to approx 3pm, and we will advise you of your start time about 7 – 10 days prior to the event date.

There’s a secure bag drop in the runners’ village, free of charge for participants. Though it is used at each participants’ own risk.

We take no responsibility or liability for anyone’s belongings left in the bag drop.

Also, although it’s in a marquee the ground can become muddy, so don’t bring your Gucci hangbags or fancy gear! They may well get muddy!

Kit List

Wear appropriate gear for the weather and conditions.

1. Spikes WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. We have obstacles that spikes can cause damage to and we don’t want to take any risks. Your shoes will be checked before you race. Note that spikes also include football boots with “studs”. If you haven’t got shoes without spikes, be prepared to run barefoot!

2. Suitable clothing. This is up to you, but we’d suggest a warm change of clothes for after the event and gloves to use during (for all those nets and ropes). You will get muddy, and so will your trainers, so don’t wear anything you are particularly precious about!

Things you’ll need to bring:

1. A print out of your ticket, a signed waiver, and photo ID. You can’t race without!

2. Cash for food and drinks on site – card payment machines out in the countryside can be temperamental. Car parking is £5 cash on the day.

There is free access to the event for all spectators, except for a £5 parking fee if driving separately. We want to encourage our Roughians to bring their friends and families to see them take on The Travelator at the finish line, and don’t feel the need to charge for it!

Our Marshals take on very important roles, guiding our runners through the obstacles and around the route, and of course providing encouragement and support all along the way!

Volunteer shifts generally run between 7am – 4/5/6pm, with details to be confirmed 1-2 weeks before the race date.

As a member of our Volunteer team, you will receive the following items as thanks helping us run this truly epic event!;

– Free Rough Runner high quality technical t-shirt
– Free lunch
– Free tea & coffee
– Free entry to a future race

Or if you’re feeling generous, you can choose to give your ticket to someone else, and let them race the event whilst you’re volunteering. Don’t worry, you still get the T-shirt and other free stuff!

What's the minimum age?

The minimum age for all Rough Runner events is 16 years old at the time of the event.

This is for insurance reasons.

Are dogs allowed?

In most cases Dogs aren't allowed, however, each venue we operate at have their own policies. Please drop an email to [email protected] to inquire. As much as we love our furry friends, there is often livestock around and we try to respect the venue owners' wishes as much as possible.

Any dogs that are brought to events, guide dogs or otherwise must be kept on leads at all times, and any foul must be picked up and disposed of properly!

Have you got showers?

There are hot showers at most of our events. Please email us if you'd like to check!

To help raise money for our chosen charity, The Stroke Association, there's a minimal charge.

We strongly urge you to bring a towel and a fresh change of dry clothes! If it's hot you'll be sweaty, if it's wet you'll be muddy! Either way, it's much nicer to have a drink at the bar if you're feeling fresh!

Have you got changing rooms?

We have changing facilities, but it’s basic – literally a marquee tent, one for men, and one for women. There’s nothing inside them
