About this event

Before introducing our epic obstacle events, the Rough Runner founders organized 10km and half marathon runs, and in March 2018 will be returning to the beautiful Chiswick House to do it all again! Both the half and the 10km start out in the grounds of Chiswick House, heading out to the river and then splitting off into two different routes depending on your preferred distance, before ending up back at Chiswick House.

Did the Half Marathon - Sunday in 2018
Unfortunately this was a bad weekend for Rough Runner. The course followed a pedestrian route along the Thames and the event took place on the same day as Men's Head of the River Race - a huge international rowing event. The route was therefore very overcrowded and some dishonourable members of the public tampered with the signage, which led many competitors astray on the course. However, Rough Runner handled the complaints (which I imagine were a significant number), extremely professionally. A disappointing weekend, but likely a one-off.… read more

Route description
Route description

Both the half and the 10km take place on a stunning route hugging the Thames the whole way through. Which means less road-running, and more eye-catching scenery and a feeling of escaping the city.

The route leaves Chiswick House and runs along a fabulous path beside the River Thames towards Putney along the North Bank, crossing to the South Bank and heading back towards either Barnes Bridge or Chiswick Bridge depending on the length of the route you decide to take.

Spectators

There is free access to the event for all spectators (except for parking costs if driving separately). We want to encourage our Roughians to bring their friends and families to see them at the finish line, and don’t feel the need to charge for a ticket just to enjoy the spectacle!
