The Royal Windsor 10km River Trail Run creates the perfect opportunity to experience the historically picturesque Thames Valley. With an idyllic start and finish at the foot of Windsor Castle, a royal home and fortress for over 900 years, the entirely flat course guides you along the River following the scenic trails with some fantastic views of the surrounding areas.

The event is not designed to be a gruelling cross country through deep mud and puddles, but aims to be a fun, friendly and fast trail run along one of England's most historic courses.

The timing chip is attached to the back of your race number. The race number is the only thing you will need to start your event.

1. Race number to be worn on the front. This will aid event officials to identify you, plus allow our official timekeepers.

2. Timing chip. The timing chip is attached to the back of your race number, attach this to your front then you will be ready to race. Do not alter your race number in any way as this may affect the timing chip. Timing chips systems are used at all of our events, but you will be notified on the day of the event if there has been a technical problem.

We hope that our onsite facilities, commentary and music provide plenty to keep other halves and little ones entertained, ensuring a day out for all the family while you run!

I though the course was beautiful and the stewards were very friendly. Could have wished for better weather, but that's what next year is for!
  • Did the 10K in 2019

Fantastic stuff. I was a bit nervous about this one but I had a really good time. Felt very strongly about coming back and leaving a review for this one. Shall be doing again. Love this site for booking as well, very helpful!
  • Did the 10K in 2019

Course was absolutely fantastic! Stewards were great, and the other runners were all friendly people. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!
  • Did the 10K in 2018

Not one of the best experiences I've had at a race. The course was nice enough even if it was bit long by my watch, but the stewards weren't very friendly and the finish wasn't very lively afterwards either
  • Did the 10K in 2018

the course is perfectly fine and well organised but its really expensive for what you get. 35 quid with no included parking is a little bit questionable.
  • Did the 10K in 2019

the course was much longer than expected. Since I'm used to longer distances, it wasn't too difficult but this could be a real problem for some people. Fix it for next year!! Other than that the race was good & well marshaled
  • Did the 10K in 2019

    Excellent course and great organisation.
  • Did the 10K in 2019

The event was well organised and briefed, although I would question the bag drop-off fee given the cost of the event. We have not received the results of our run, which is always nice to get on the same day as the event. The course is level and not too challenging, ut there is not that much of it actually going along the river, and the name of the event does suggest otherwise. Some of the marshals were great and very encouraging but I would like to encourage the younger Marshalls to join in with this spirit too as the runners really get spurred on by such encouragement rather than just being pointed in the right direction (with a glum face). The atmosphere at the end was great.
  • Did the 10K in 2018

Please please check this course for 10k route this year. 2018 it was 7.1 miles and this at the time being my second ever 10k run I found really disheartening.
  • Did the 10K in 2018

The course was uninspiring (perhaps the best route was reserved for the 1/2) and poorly planned with the entire 10k field being slowed to a walking pace when trying to squeeze on to the tow path at the start and once or twice later on. Despite the walking and two boring laps of a field, chasing a 10k PB was still on until my GPS watch showed I had hit 10k and was still on the opposite side of the river to the finish. Would not waste money running this 11.6k event again.
