Through the disused Great Central railway and the closed town and country roads of Britain's railway centre, this is the half marathon you can't afford to miss.

With a fun 1k run for the family too, this is your perfect end-of-half-term day out before all the Hallowe'en and fireworks fun.

FAQs

At the race

Toilets, bag drop and catering trucks will be at Hart Field. Once you have collected your race pack, attach your number to the front of the shirt you will run in with safety pins provided, and use the tear of strip on your race number to attach to any belongings you want to leave in the bag drop. Toilets and catering will be available on Hart Field throughout and after the race until 12pm. There are no dedicated changing facilities at Hart Field, so please arrive ready to run wherever possible. The family fun run starts at 9.45am, shortly before the main race and stays within Hart Field. Medals are awarded to all fun run finishers!

After the race

Collect your medal and finishers’ goody bag as soon as you’ve crossed the finish line. You’ll be able to take a print out of your chip timed race result from the race timing gazebo. Prizes will be awarded on race day wherever possible. Full results will be sent to all finishers later on race day with a link to view photographs from the course and finish line.

Road Closures and Alternative Routes for Traffic

Roads that are closed on or close to the race route will only be closed for the minimum amount of time. Our timing estimates shown on the road closure map are intended as maximum closure times – roads will not be closed any earlier than the stated closing time, but may open earlier than re-opening time.

Whilst we appreciate frustration for drivers, we do all we can to provide advance notice of closures and to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.  On race day, our marshals and road safety officers will provide current, accurate information to the best of their knowledge regarding timings and alternative routes. It is hoped that the benefit to the town and all those running or spectating is far greater than the disruption of temporary road closures. If you are not able to travel by road for a short period during the race, please be patient. Abusive or intimidating behaviour towards staff and volunteers will be reported to the police. For details on roads that are closed or popular routes that are affected, see our schedule of road closures and our maps of recommended alternative routes.

The last route along the old railway line was not good, leaves slippery, people with dogs off the lead, can’t the whole course be on tarmac???? Other than that great run thank you

I wish we'd known how far the car park was away from the finish. I suffer badly with cold after a race and would have liked the parking closer to the finish. That is the only negative.
