Route information
Aintree Racecourse holds the annual Grand National Steeplechase event, arguably one of the most famous races in the world.
This event gives you the chance to run on this hallowed track. The course is flat and quick with runners completing a varying number of laps for each distance.
Runners will complete the following laps for each distance:
  • 5k - 1 lap
  • 10k - 2 laps
  • Half Marathon - 4 laps

Please note that there will not be any parking at the venue but there is plenty of parking nearby.
By Car
From the South leave the M6 at J21A and join the M62 west. Then leave the M62 at J6 to join the M57 and follow the signs for the races.
From the North leave the M6 at J26 and join the M58, following signs for the races.
From Mersey Tunnels follow signs for Preston, then for A59, then signs for the races.
By Train
The nearest mainline station to the event site is Liverpool Lime Street, with Liverpool Central Station** just a short walk from Lime Street where you can catch a train to Aintree. Aintree Station is directly opposite the event site.
By Bus
The 300, 310, and 345 buses run to and from Liverpool and Aintree.

10:00 Half Marathon starts
10:45 10k starts
10:55 5k starts
Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of your race to allow time to register, attach your number number, drop your bag and warm up.
Race Pack
Race Packs must be collected on the day of the event, before the start of your race, from registration. Please be aware that you will not receive anything in the post.

The route is located inside the Aintree racecourse and will be on tarmac paths.

How many laps do I have to complete?
Lap numbers are as follows for each distance. 5k - 1 lap, 10k - 2 laps, Half Marathon - 4 laps. Marshalls will be stationed along the route to help you on your way.

Great course for a PB, had a lot of fun with a few friends, very easy to navigate pre and post-race. Would highly recommend

I thought the route would have been closer the the race course, but still a good venue. Surprised that there wasn't a t-shirt as well as a medal. 2 days after the event and I'm still waiting for my official time.

It was great. Very organised. Cheerful Marshals everywhere. Great music. Medal great. Well done aintree. Would do it again.

Good course for PBs, flat & hard. Very cold but not surprising for the time of year. Well organised, everything was posted out before the event

Great event that's well organised and even tho it was a freezing morning there was great spectator support from the crowd.
