Route information
Aintree Racecourse holds the annual Grand National Steeplechase event, arguably one of the most famous races in the world.
This event gives you the chance to run on this hallowed track. The course is flat and quick with runners completing a varying number of laps for each distance.
Runners will complete the following laps for each distance:
  • 5k - 1 lap
  • 10k - 2 lap
  • Half Marathon - 4 laps

Please note that there will not be any parking at the venue but there is plenty of parking nearby.
By Car
  • From the South leave the M6 at J21A and join the M62 west. Then leave the M62 at J6 to join the M57 and follow the signs for the races.
  • From the North leave the M6 at J26 and join the M58, following signs for the races.
  • From Mersey Tunnels follow signs for Preston, then for A59, then signs for the races.
By Train
The nearest mainline station to the event site is Liverpool Lime Street, with Liverpool Central Station just a short walk from Lime Street where you can catch a train to Aintree. Aintree Station is directly opposite the event site.
By Bus
The 300, 310, and 345 buses run to and from Liverpool and Aintree.

Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of your event to allow time for registration and a solid warm up.
Water Station
There'll be a water station next to the start/finish area.
Cut-off Time
There will be an overall cut-off time of 3 hours for all runners to complete the course.

Lap numbers are as follows for each distance. 5k - 1 lap, 10k - 2 laps, Half Marathon - 4 laps. Marshalls will be stationed along the route to encourage you on your way.

Marshall’s were amazing! Especially the lady with pink hair on the way out of the course and the man warming up was amazing too, saw him helping a man that had a little fall and run with him for a while to make sure he was ok! Found all the laps rough going - wouldn’t do further than 10k again.

Shame the last corner was covered in stones/gravel. Only reason knocked down.

Yes, great water stops and energy gels provided for the half marathon. The volunteers were great supporters and a nice environment all around.

Nice course, injured half way through HM so didn't finish but course made it easy to step out

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch. Just to let you know that you will be able to enter on the day if there are still spaces available. At the moment the event is at 79% capacity. The minimum age for running the 5k is 16 :-)
