Did the race in 2023

This is the first time I’ve run this race, and it was fantastic. Fortunately the weather held off and gave us a dry run.The rain and United Utilities caused the organisers so much additional work and stress over the previous week, with paths being washed away and bridges closed. Therefore much kudos goes to Alan and his team for getting everything ready for the Sunday morning.I would thoroughly recommend this small but well managed race, I’ve already pencilled it in for next year.

The route was fine however the signage and marshalling was awful. Multiple areas where people ran the wrong way. Many kms ran with no signage. There was an instance of running about 3 or 4 km before finding a sign that had turned itself around. When you turned it over it seemed to point you back on yourself. Had to stop with another runner, look at the original route on a map and see where to go. Id like to see other runners strava routes for this run as im sure there would be a few people who didnt complete the intended course.Then to top it off the result had my time 2 minutes slower than my strava time. This was also the same for another runner who finished a couple of minutes behind me. Would not want to run with this organjser again.

The course was great, challenging and very scenic.i ran the shortened 21k and took a few wrong turns as some signs were hard to see. Pretty sure a few runners took shortcuts or there wasn't many doing 21k. I would do this run again.

The course needs more Marshalls and signs as it was easy to take a wrong turn and end up losing time. The course itself was tough but good. If there were more signs even better.
