About
Come and run in the Worthing Half Marathon. We have a super flat and fast One lap closed road course starting and finishing right on the seafront. A perfect Valentines weekend away (maybe for the runner in your family!) awaits you in this well known traditional seaside town. Fish and chips will never taste so good!! Roses are Red, violets are Blue, Worthing half marathon is the run for you! Runners navigate their way round the town for several miles before heading out West along the front of the sea and returning back along the promenade. This race is very very flat! Perfect pre-London, Brighton and other Spring marathons. Probably the closest you can get to preparing for a full marathon ove the half distance with SOS Rehydration on the course, full professional medical back, warm race village within the pavilion for family. Pre-post race massage, local eateries and pubs. All in all a great weekend away.

Route information
Runners start adjacent to New Street on Marine Drive just west of the lido. They run west for 1.2 miles with a small additional loop before a U-turn at George V Avenue and head back east. At 3.5 miles they head up W Buildings and run an anti clockwise loop of suburban roads, Spectators could jump between the points quite easily on Grand Avenue with just 670 metres from seafront to the North most point (Lansdowne Road). At 7 miles runners return to the seafront and head west until 10.5 miles where they turn on the barren lands of the western most point and head back east. Once back at 12.5 miles they will swing right onto the esplanade for 800 metres and into the finish.

Did the race in 2019
It was a good, flat, fast course that helped me get a PB. It was well organised to an extent but the water stations (one in particular) weren't great, with either lots of people having to stop for a few minutes, or missing out all together if they were going for a time. The atmosphere was great at the start and end but apart from that there wasn't really one. Not the race organisers fault really because it was not great weather and the fact there were only 2000 entrants meant there were only that many people or less supporting their friends/family and they were mostly at the start/ finish. If you want a PB or a specific time though, this is a great race!

I ran a 10k-race in Worthing before but I did the Worthing Half Marathon for the first time. I knew that it has a flat course but I never expected that I would do a PB. The organisation was good. I enjoyed my run so much with my friends from our running club. I would like to join the Worthing Half Marathon 2020.

This was my first half marathon so was not sure what to expect. It was well organised. The course was a bit boring but when you have to fit the miles in you need to expect it to be a bit repetitive. The atmosphere was not bad especially as the weather was not great. This is a great run for training for a full marathon. Its a flat course so fast. I would definitely recommend it

I dont have a problem with cups at water stations but paper would be better!! No only on the environment but also for practicality of drinking! You can squeeze a paper cup to a make a point to make drinking and running and easier. Drinking out of plastic cups was impossible even at a slow plod. Ended up throwing more water over my face than in my mouth. Also there were no buffs at the end which I thought was included in the entry/

Really well organized event, great atmosphere and flat course. Possibly less turns on the course if possible, however I understand this is very much based on road closures and access.

Recommend sunglasses as there can be glare off the water

I've run the race in both of the two previous years so I knew what to expect.

Could have done without the Headwind from mile 9 onward but I know you can't do anything about that lol
