The course came up quite short, though I was told it was accurately measured. I missed the chip in the envelope that was to be attached to my shoe. My fault but wasn't informed about this in any pre race email. The team were helpful afterwards in adding me to the finishers list once I'd emailed them my Strava link. 3 hilly sections make this not the fastest course.

The Olympic Park is very open to the elements, so dressing appropriately for the weather is a must. The course is as close to flat as they could make it; the gradients are small and gentle. The 5K course is two loops, and the 10K course is four loops; if you're anything like me, be prepared for the mental hurdle of having to pass the finish line several times to complete the distance.

Despite it being a very cold and early start, I found the race very well organised- the marshals at these events are always very encouraging and for the front runners also good at letting you know your position. The course was quite narrow in places which made overtaking hard, but that would be my only gripe. Otherwise another very well organised, and most importantly fun atmosphere to race in.

No pacers. Unclear scrappy start with no one sectioned into times. Great marshals. Very vague baggage drop that looked very risky and insecure. Pointless massage advert. Mid match of medals, looked like they just wanted to get rid of old stock.
