Event summary

Find your limits in this 6 and 12 Hour event. Your race can be as short as 5k or up to a full marathon so runners of all levels are welcome to join. The route entails a 3.3mile lap of Salcey Forrest and takes you along well kept pathways. Come to see how far you can go!

The majority of our events are challenge events - multi-lap races with a time limit rather than a set distance. This means people can run all different distances on the same day, making for a great atmosphere. Lapped events can get some negative feedback but our laps are around beautiful locations. We avoid out and back laps and coming back to the wonderful aid station (full of your requests) can be a good motivator. Whether it's your A race, you need to do some long training runs, you have a 100-mile ultra in a few weeks or you want to hammer out a quick 10k, our races allow everyone to get involved together. We’re also expanding our mid-week evening 10K series too. Keep an eye out for updates on these as we are continually adding more. Expect the same care and attention and in the same great locations!

FAQ
Is there parking at the Salcey Summer Challenge?
You do have to pay to park (£4.00 up to 2 hours £6 all day at the time of writing). This money goes to the forest, it is a great space that needs money and this is their main revenue stream. That said, be a hero and car share, save money and the world!… read more
FAQ
Is the Salcey Summer Challenge cupless?
Yes. It's obviously good for the environment to reduce plastic use and general waste. You won't break a world record having to stop to fill a bottle of water or carry a hydration pack, but over a marathon distance it would probably add less than a minute to your time. There will be water, isotonic drinks, tea and coffee and real Coca Cola for you, but no cups. You can buy a foldable cup on the day.… read more
Route description
Route description

The route takes runners along well-maintained pathways, mainly made of crushed stone. Runners can enjoy the forest views as they travel down (potentially) muddy, narrow paths.

There'll be plenty of sun in this beautiful summer event, littered with shaded sections for a welcome cool stretch of running.

This 6 and 12 hour event is designed with all abilities in mind. Run, walk, hike as much or as little as you'd like over the time limit.

You can run one lap in 20 minutes, pick up your medal, flapjack and beer and go home! Alternatively you can head out on your 25th lap at 20:55 and finish in 12hr30 having covered over 100k!
