At times somewhat of a Faulty Sea Dog Long Swim 2.5k June 22. Course changed due to rough sea which was a sensible and safe move with safety cover excellent. However original course map left on board which did confuse many but was explained on start line. Given high waves visibility of the four only buoys was near impossible and needed intermediate buoys to keep athletes in straight line. Was great to swim in the surf but questionable for weaker swimmers who got a good pounding from the waves. The electronic dipping timing system seemed backward technology compared to ankle/wrist automatic timing. The idea of GPS tracking for spectators was fab and very forward thinking - but not at an unexpected £5 surcharge on top of the relatively overpriced entry fee which certainly was not invested into the bargain basement dry cake selection and horrible cheap cola! (If only you knew what post race cakes are like up North...). It was good to see prize giving but athletes, their partners and family need clear and accurate information as to when the prize giving is to take place...otherwise most leave. The prize giving itself was a lovely touch to the day, however each ultra-fit race winner did receive a 1990’s prize..... a bottle of wine ;-)

I really enjoyed this event. It is relatively small event (around 50 people per distance) so not too busy in the water which is a good thing for me. the water was real choppy, but that is no fault of the organiser, the swimmer just needs to be prepared for that. Also, I found it a little mean that we had to buy the finisher medal. I found this a little mean. The only thing I would like to see more of was a few more buoys in the water. This would make for easier sighting as we only had buoys at each turn, no buoys on route to ensure you were going in the right direction. Apart from this, it was a fantastic event. Just dont hold back on the finisher medal :D

This was my first event since my knee op 6 months ago and with the conditions being a bit choppy i found it tough but so enjoyable. The event was very well organised with plenty of lifeguards in the water and on the shore. There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the start, with refreshments and a shower at the finish, awesome, thank you 👍

Really good race. Liked the way course was adapted for safety for one of the races - flexibility is good. Bit more pre-race info would have been good. E.g. info about bag drop, Beryl bike locations, tow float allowed etc.

Sea was quite rough , which can’t be helped but higher or more frequent markers were needed

Great morning out. Water was really rough, but plenty of safety cover out on the course and good large buoys to sight from
