Route information
Join us for our special Save The Rhino Run with Chris "Rhino Boy" Green as well as our very own Chuckle Twin aka George "Floats Like A Rhino" McDonough. The aim of this run is to raise money and awareness for Save The Rhino. The medal is awesome and definitely one to collect.
Charity: Chris has run many marathons dressed in his Rhino outfit, raising awareness and money for Save The Rhino. We are delighted to be able to hold an event to assist his tireless efforts.
This year, George will also be taking part in this event as he will also be running London Marathon as a Rhino!
This is a 7hr Time Challenge event which allows you full control over the distance you want to run. The minimum distance is 5km, which is part of a lap. A full lap is 4.37 miles (7km) and you can run as many or as few of these laps as you wish in the 7hr time limit which starts from the official event start time. It is 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or over for an ultra, there is also a 50km distance available.
The course is around the River Wear river and overlooks the Cathedral. It is fully signed so no navigational experience is required. The course is well made paths and tarmac. Road shoes are suitable all year round.
