Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run routes

10K
Starting and finishing on Union Street the 10k will take runners east, past Aberdeen Town House and towards the famous Castle Gate before turning right down Marischal Street towards Aberdeen Harbour. At the 4k point near the Beach Ballroom, they will head west and pass Pittodrie Football Stadium.

Runners then pass the beautifully reinstated Marischal College, and the new Marischal Square development will be a welcome sight at the top of Littlejohn Street before His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen Art Gallery and Robert Gordons College are passed on Rosemount Viaduct. One final push will bring Union Street and the finish line into view meaning that the cheering crowds, friends, family and that well-deserved medal are not far away!

Half Marathon
The half marathon follows the same 10k route for the first few miles before continuing north along the Esplanade towards the River Don.

After crossing the Bridge of Don and completing a short out-and-back section on Ellon Road, they turn towards the historic and picturesque Brig o’ Balgownie. The route then heads through a new section in the beautiful Seaton Park and continues through Old Aberdeen and the University of Aberdeen.

After passing Pittodrie Stadium runners will head towards the beautifully reinstated Marischal College, and the new Marischal Square development will be a welcome sight at the top of Littlejohn Street before His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen Art Gallery and Robert Gordons College are passed on Rosemount Viaduct. What is the Aberdeen Activity Challenge?

The Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run (25 August) provides an opportunity to inspire the next generation to keep fit and take on a running challenge.

That’s why we’ve created the Aberdeen Activity Challenge; a non-competitive, cumulative running challenge for kids. Not only will it develop healthy habits to exercise regularly, but its lots of fun also!

The challenge is simple: complete the Half Marathon course, 1 run at a time. You can do your run anywhere at any time. Every time a run is completed participants colour in the section on their Activity Tracker until they reach the finish line! Complete 13 runs to conquer the Aberdeen Activity Challenge.

Everyone who completes the challenge can download a certificate for their efforts. We’re also offering a special prize for all challenge participants who take part in the Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Family Run on Sunday 25 August!

Did the Half Marathon in 2017

As a native Aberdonian It was amazing to run down union Street being cheered on by the masses To bring such an exclusive event to Aberdeen was just amazing and as a blind athlete I got an amazing treatment and the organisation of the event was unbelievable everything that could be thought about had been covered Making their running experience everything ! As a blind runner I always worry about pre-and post run facilities but in Aberdeen everything was thought of and The fact I got a five minute start ahead of the field meant it felt like I actually lead the race down union Street a feeling I’ll never ever forget !!!
